Since the density (altitude) is inevitably lower than that of the molded part (referring to the plate part), there is a risk that moisture will penetrate from this mold part, causing rust on the backing metal, and causing the friction material to fall off from the backing metal.

A sparse density area is likely to occur between the molded part 4 and the plate part 5, and there is also a risk that the two-layer materials 1 and 2 will separate at the interface due to rust occurring in this area.

By keeping the hardness (density) constant in the perforated part (mold part) and plate part of the material and preventing moisture from penetrating from the mold part, rust is prevented and the friction material is prevented from falling off. .

Pressure is applied to each perforated part C′ to create a perforated part.
After increasing the density of the heat insulating layer 2 corresponding to C' in advance, the lower molds C and D are brought into contact with each other, and other parts are preformed.

式摩擦材の製造方法。1. When filling the lower part of a mold consisting of a middle mold and a lower mold with a heat insulating material and the upper part with a semi-metallic friction material in layers, the lower mold is placed in a position corresponding to the perforated part of the back metal of the friction material. The height of the upper surface of the perforated part is lowered in advance to increase the amount of insulation material filled at this position, and then the perforated part of the lower mold is raised and the upper mold is lowered into the middle mold to apply pressure. Therefore, the density of the heat insulating material layer at the position corresponding to the perforated part is increased in advance, and other parts are pressurized and preformed, and then the high density part is overlapped with the perforated part of the backing metal and heated. A method for manufacturing a two-layer friction material characterized by pressing.
