Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition containing a stainless steel powder, which does not gel even after a long-term storage and has excellent storage stability, by adding an epoxy resin stabilizer to a chlorinated polymer resin coating material containing a stainless powder. CONSTITUTION:A stainless power-containing chlorinated polymer resin coating composition is produced by mixing 100 pts.wt. chlorinated polymer resin (e.g., chlorinated polyethylene) with 20-2000 pts.wt. stainless steel power (desirably a flaky powder having a thickness of 0.1-2mum, a particle size <=20 mesh and an aspect ratio <=10) and 1-15 pts.wt. epoxy resin stabilizer (e.g., diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A) as essential components. This coating composition has excellent storage stability and can be suitably used for plants, steel towers, bridges, marine structures, etc.

Means for Solving the Problems> The present inventors investigated prevention of thickening during storage of chlorinated polymer resin paint containing stainless steel powder, and found that 100% of chlorinated polymer resin was used as an epoxy resin stabilizer. 1 to 1 part by weight
The present invention was completed based on the discovery that by adding 5 parts by weight, preferably 2 to 8 parts by weight, thickening during storage can be significantly reduced.

It is already known that epoxy resin is used as a stabilizer for chlorinated polymer resin paints (hereinafter referred to as chlorinated rubber paints), but as shown in the reference example, epoxy resins are used as stabilizers for chlorinated rubber paints that do not contain stainless steel powder. However, no thickening during storage has been observed even without the addition of stabilizers. This indicates that recent chlorinated polymer resins are of a quality that does not require the use of stabilizers.
