Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively utilize waste in large quantities and to obtain a deodorant surely removing an offensive odor or the like by mixing coal ash and/or ash discharged by incinerating sludge from a paper mill with an alkaline aq. medium and by heating the mixture. CONSTITUTION:An enriching agent such as diatomaceous earth or aluminum chloride is added to coal ash such as coal clinker ash or coal fly ash and/or ash discharged by incinerating sludge from a paper mill as required. They are mixed with an alkaline aq. medium such as an aq. NaOH soln. and the mixture is heated to about >=90 deg.C to form zeolite. This zeolite is granulated and used as a deodorant. The waste discharged in large quantities is effectively utilized and a deodorant for especially deodorizing gas contg. mercaptan and gas contg. ammonia is obtd.
