Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform equivalent printing to that by 24 pin print head with 12 pin print head by printing a 24 dot character while separating the 24 dot character into first and second 12 dot characters. CONSTITUTION:A dot printer D comprises a 12 pin print head 1, a first print means 2 for printing first 12 dots of a 24 dot character, and a second print means 3 for printing the remaining 12 dots. The first print means 2 has such function as to print odd dots of original pattern in first printing operation while the second print means 3 has such function as to print even dots of the original pattern in second printing operation. The first and second print means are realized through a program in a CPU which controls driving of the dot printer D. By such arrangement, a 24 dot character can be printed by means of a 12 dot print head.
