[Detailed description of the invention] This invention attaches a piezoelectric element to the head main body (ball hitting surface) of the club head, and applies the strain energy generated in the piezoelectric element to the ball as a repulsive force at the moment the ball is hit. This invention relates to a golf club for increasing flight distance.

As shown in FIG. 1, the club head of a conventional golf club is constructed by fixing a striking member 2 made of synthetic resin to a club body 1 made of persimmon wood or the like with adhesive, screws, or the like. However, the current situation is that the market (golf players) is demanding the emergence of a club that can fly the ball farther.

Therefore, the present invention focused on the properties of piezoelectric elements (when an external force is applied, strain occurs and voltage is generated), and this piezoelectric element is attached to the club head, and the moment the ball is hit, the strain generated in the piezoelectric element is released as a charge. We propose to use the stress generated when the piezoelectric element is restored to its original state as a repulsive force, but common sense holds that a piezoelectric element is an electric material, and that it is necessary to apply an electrical load to the piezoelectric element and its electrodes. Generally, it is in a closed circuit state. In fact, the inventors of the present invention were initially considering the state used in conventional ignition devices, etc. (forming a certain discharge gap and rapidly discharging electric charge), but this product (golf club)
Focusing on the fact that the performance required for this is mechanical, we created a state in which the charge in the piezoelectric element generated by the impact force is not released suddenly, but rather is stored and held in the piezoelectric element, that is, the charge is generated but not discharged. They focused on the fact that the repulsive force of the piezoelectric element itself can be increased when the piezoelectric element attempts to return to its original state (before the ball was hit). This is because it is already widely known that due to the properties of the piezoelectric element itself, the elastic modulus (Young's modulus) is higher in the open circuit state than in the closed circuit state. We predicted that the ball flight distance would be increased as a result, and conducted an experiment.

In this experiment, as shown in Fig. 2, a steel ball (approximately 12 g) B was dropped from a height of 50 cm onto a piezoelectric element unit incorporating a piezoelectric element, and the steel ball B rebounded from the piezoelectric element unit A. The difference in height h is
We investigated the case where the electrodes at both ends of the piezoelectric element were electrically open, and the case where they were closed with a 5 mm discharge gap. As expected, the results showed a considerable difference in h≒22 to 27 cm in the open state and h≒15 to 17 cm in the closed state. In other words, it has been experimentally proven that the repulsive force is greater when the electrodes of the piezoelectric element are left open and the charge generated in the piezoelectric element by the impact force is accumulated and retained.

FIG. 3 shows a club head showing an embodiment of the golf club according to the present invention constructed in this manner. 4 is built in along the ball striking axis direction, and at the ball striking position of the head main body 3, a metal stopper 6 located at one end of the piezoelectric element 4 is surrounded by a metal stopper 6 made of synthetic resin or the like. A clamping plate 5 is provided. The piezoelectric element 4 has the abutment 6 on the front part (ball striking surface) and a metal receiver 7 on the rear part,
It is held and fixed by the tightening plate 5 which is fixed to the head main body 3 through the stepped portion of the stopper 6 using adhesive, screws (not shown), or the like. 8 is a storage case made of synthetic resin that houses the piezoelectric element 4, and 9 is grease for electrical insulation. Moreover, the polarity of the piezoelectric element 4 may be either on the side of the metal plate 6 or the side of the metal plate 7, and there are no particular restrictions. Of course, the electrodes at both ends of the piezoelectric element 4 are electrically open.

As described above, the present invention proposes a golf club in which a piezoelectric element is attached to the club head in an electrically open circuit state, and by this, the piezoelectric element can sufficiently exert the repulsive force due to the strain energy to increase the flight of the ball. It is expected that the distance will be increased.
