Abstract

PURPOSE:To display an image on a large screen by reflecting the light beam which is emitted by a light source installed at the rear part of the automobile and transmitted through a liquid crystal panel and thus projecting the video on the screen. CONSTITUTION:A television antenna 8 receives a television radio wave and a tuner and driving circuit 5 converts the received signal into a video signal which can drive the liquid crystal panel 4, thereby driving the liquid crystal panel 4 with the signal. The light beam 14 from the light source 6 is made incident on the liquid crystal panel 4. Thus, the liquid crystal panel 4 is driven with the video signal and the light is made incident, so the image is projected on the liquid crystal panel 4 and the light beam 14 which is transmitted through the liquid crystal panel 4 passes through an opening part 12 and reflected by a mirror 3. The light beam 14 which is reflected by the mirror 3 is made incident on a raised hood 2 and the image which is projected on the liquid crystal panel 4 is projected. Consequently, a large-sized image can be projected on the screen member installed on the automobile 1.

According to the present invention, the ratio between the screen size of the liquid crystal panel and the screen size of the image projected on the screen member is equal to the ratio of the optical path length from the light source to the liquid crystal panel and the optical path length from the light source to the screen member. . The optical path length from the light source to the LCD panel is short, and the optical path length from the light source to the screen member is long. The ratio is sufficiently larger than 1. Therefore, the ratio between the size of the liquid crystal panel and the size of the screen on the screen member is sufficiently larger than 1, and a large screen can be obtained on the screen member.

to drive. On the other hand, a light beam 14 from the light source 6 enters the liquid crystal panel 4. In this way, the liquid crystal panel 4 is driven by a video signal, and since light is incident thereon, an image is displayed on the liquid crystal panel 4. Further, the light beam 14 transmitted through the liquid crystal panel 4 passes through the opening 12 and is reflected by the mirror 3. The light beam 14 reflected by the mirror 3 enters the raised bonnet 2 and projects an image on the liquid crystal panel 4.

The ratio of the screen size of the liquid crystal panel 4 to the screen size on the hood 2 is equal to the ratio of the optical path length from the light source 6 to the liquid crystal panel 4 and the optical path length from the light source 6 to the bonnet 2. If the optical path length from the light source 6 to the liquid crystal panel 4 is Lc, the optical path length from the light source 6 to the bonnet 2 is Lb, and the screen size of the liquid crystal panel 4 is Dc, then the screen size Db on the bonnet 2 is D b = D c L b / L c.
