A hot roll type fixing device that fixes a toner image on a support such as paper using heat and pressure is often used.
Generally, a heat roll type fixing device includes a pair of fixing rollers, at least one of which is a heating roller, in order to sandwich and convey a support supporting a toner image. In this heating fixing roller, a heat source is provided inside the roller in order to achieve thermal efficiency and uniform temperature distribution on the roller surface. (For example, special public relations
-Refer to Publication No. 14119) The above heat source is a halogen lamp (for example, Kaisho
58-169142) is generally used. FIG. 3 shows a sectional view of a heat fixing roller supporting this halogen lamp with a conventional structure. The heat fixing roller 1 has a roll body 2 made of a metal material with good thermal conductivity (aluminum alloy, stainless steel, etc.), and a halogen lamp 3 provided inside the roll body 2. Halogen lamp 3 is a jacket tube (quartz tube)
A filament 32 is housed inside the filament 31, and has electrodes 33 at both ends for supplying power to the filament 32, and the electrodes 33 are provided within a base (insulator) 34. The electrode 33 is supported by a pair of external electrodes 4 erected on a fixing device main body (not shown).

is often directly sandwiched between external electrodes. However, with such a structure, even if the lamp is easy to replace, the electrode 33 and the tip portion 4a can easily become disengaged due to vibrations or shocks during transportation or transportation of the fixing device, and the lamp may become damaged. There was a problem that accidents occurred due to falling off and damage.

It is being done. However, although this structure prevents the lamp from falling off, it is necessary to remove parts (such as connectors) attached to the support member 5 and lead wire 6 from the fuser body each time the lamp is replaced, which requires maintenance and inspection. The problem was that it was difficult to do.

The support structure of the heat fuser lamp of the present invention is provided at both ends of the lamp, and this external electrode made of a conductive material with spring properties supports the electrodes held in the insulator from both sides of the lamp. The insulator is formed from a plate-like member and has a holding hole that receives the outer peripheral surface of the insulator and a substantially U-shaped protrusion that presses the electrode toward the lamp, and the insulator is inserted into the holding hole only from the axial direction. Further, the tip of the protrusion is inserted into the recess of the electrode.

The external electrode 40 is provided upright at a predetermined position on a fixing device main body (not shown). This external electrode 40 includes a base 41 in which a holding hole 42 is formed, and a base 41 as shown in FIG.
1 and a substantially U-shaped bent portion 44 formed by cutting out a portion of 1. The holding hole 42 is sized to receive the base 34 of the halogen lamp 3 and to securely hold the base 34.
The bent portion 43 has a shape and dimensions such that its tip 44 can be inserted into the recess of the electrode 13 and can apply a pressing force to the electrode 33 toward the filament 32 side.

Further, since the halogen lamp 3 is pressed along the longitudinal direction from both sides by the bending portion 43, its movement in the direction of arrow c in the figure is restricted. In this way, the movement of the halogen lamp 3 in each direction is restricted by the external electrode 40, so that it will not fall off even if shock or vibration is applied to the fixing device. Furthermore, by removing one of the external electrodes 40 from the fixing device main body, the halogen lamp 3 can be easily removed.

It was formed from a 0.8mm phosphor bronze plate (C5191P), and the hole diameter was set 0.1 to 0.2mm larger than the outside diameter of the lamp base to support a commercially available halogen lamp, making it easy to attach and detach the lamp. It was confirmed that the lamp did not fall off even when subjected to a drop test at a height of 1 m. Note that the outer diameter of the lamp base in this case was 8.0 mm.
