Abstract

PURPOSE:To retain the freshness of perishable foods with the carbon dioxide passed through its container into a case in transit by placing in a perishables- containing case the containers formed of a carbon dioxidepermeable soft film and filled with carbon dioxide in order to effect shipment. CONSTITUTION:Fruit 2 is placed in a case 1 together with cushioning materials 3. The cushioning material 3 is composed of a container 4 formed of a soft plastic film permeable to carbon dioxide to some extent and a desired amount of the carbon dioxide filled in the container 4. When the container 5 is broken to mix together a solution of citric acid and a powder 6 of sodium carbonate so as to liberate the carbon dioxide, the container 4 becomes swollen with the carbon dioxide to serve as the cushioning material. At this time, moreover, the carbon dioxide is gradually passed through the container 4 into the case 1, since it is permeable to the carbon dioxide. This enables the freshness of fruit to be retained in transit.

Currently, when vegetables, flowers, and fruits are transported from production areas to consumption areas, V1 cushioning materials such as sponges are placed in a box together with the fresh produce. By the way, the sponge used as the vtfff material during transportation occupies a considerable volume even when compressed during transportation and storage, which increases the cost accordingly. If the sponge is compressed to take up space during transportation and storage, its elasticity will decrease and its function as a cushioning material will decline, so it must be left free at least during storage. It requires a large amount of space, and high costs are unavoidable.

The present invention was developed while conducting research on JI I materials (used when transporting perishables such as fruits, flowers, and vegetables). As we continued to conduct further research based on this, we found that it was possible to place carbon dioxide gas-generating raw materials in a container, and to make the raw materials react to generate carbon dioxide gas at the stage of exerting its function as a buffer material. The technical idea was that when the &I cushioning material is not used as a cushioning material, such as during storage, the I product occupied by it can be reduced, and the above-mentioned drawbacks can therefore be solved. Moreover, when this material is used as a buffer material during the transportation of fresh produce, the permeation and leaching of carbon dioxide can
Because it is effective in preserving the freshness of fruits and flowers,
-It turned out that it was a win-win situation. That is, a first object of the present invention is to provide a cushioning material that can reduce the volume occupied during inventory and transportation, and can reduce storage costs and transportation costs. A second object of the present invention is to provide a cushioning material that not only performs a single function as a handle material but also is effective in preserving freshness during transportation of perishables. A third object of the present invention is to provide a method for transporting perishables that has new functions and is effective in preserving freshness. The above object of the present invention is to transport a container made of a flexible membrane that is permeable to carbon dioxide gas, which is filled with carbon dioxide gas, by placing it inside a housing in which perishables are placed. This is achieved by a unique method of transporting fresh produce. It is also used as a buffer material when transporting perishables, and is placed in a container made of a soft film that is permeable to carbon dioxide gas, and when mixed, generates carbon dioxide gas. J! This can also be accomplished by a m-material device. In this buffer material device, it is preferable that liquid and/or solid raw materials, which generate carbon dioxide gas when mixed, are separated from each other by an easily-destructible isolating material. Needless to say, there are various raw materials for the solid and/or liquid (which occupies a much smaller volume than gas) that generate carbon dioxide gas through reaction, such as a combination of soda carbonate and citric acid. Can be mentioned.

FIGS. 1 and 2 show an embodiment of the method for transporting perishables according to the present invention and the III material device used therein,
FIG. 1 is a schematic sectional view of a state in which fresh produce, such as fruit, is packaged for transportation, and FIG. 2 is a schematic explanatory diagram of a cushioning material device used for this transportation. In each figure, 1 is a case such as a cardboard box, for example, and a fruit 2 such as a grape is placed in this case 1 together with II material 3. This cushioning material 3 consists of a container 4 made of a film made of a soft plastic that allows carbon dioxide to pass through to some extent, and a desired amount of carbon dioxide gas filled in this container 4. As shown in FIG. 2, 5 is a container placed inside a container 4 in an evacuated state, and although this container 5 is watertight, it is made of a material that can easily break when force is applied. Ori,
This container 5 is filled with, for example, a citric acid solution. 6 is, for example, soda carbonate powder, which is placed in a container 4 together with a container 5 filled with a citric acid solution. Note that 7 is a seal portion for adjusting the shape of the container 4 to a desired shape when the container 4 is expanded with carbon dioxide gas, as shown in FIG. If the buffer material device is configured as described above, this vi
When the Wl material device is used as a buffer material in transporting fruits, force is applied to the container 5 to break it, the citric acid solution inside is mixed with the soda carbonate powder 6, and carbon dioxide gas is generated by the reaction. . Then, the container 4, which had been crushed until now, will swell with the carbon dioxide gas generated by the reaction and take on the shape shown in FIG. 1, allowing it to be used as a cushioning material. Moreover, at this time, since the container 4 is permeable to carbon dioxide, the carbon dioxide gas is gradually released into the housing 1 containing the fruit, which is effective in maintaining the freshness of the fruit inside the housing 1, which is extremely convenient. . Generally, transportation does not take a long time, so
For example, the period of transportation and storage from the production area to the consumption area can be considered to be about 1 day to 1 week, so the container 4 should be designed so that it takes about 1 day to 1 week for the carbon dioxide gas in the container 4 to be released to some extent. All you need to do is determine the carbon dioxide gas permeability of the material in step 4.
This can be determined as appropriate by considering the carbon dioxide gas permeability coefficient and thickness of the material of the container 4. FIG. 3 is a schematic explanatory diagram of a second embodiment of the M member device used to carry out the method for transporting perishables according to the present invention. Since the basic technical idea of this embodiment is the same as that of the first embodiment, detailed explanation thereof will be omitted. In this embodiment, the space in which the container 5 and the soda carbonate powder 6 are placed is specially constructed with a seal 8, and when in use, the seal 8 is ruptured by the pressure of carbon dioxide gas, and carbon dioxide gas is released into the container 4. It was designed to allow it to spread. FIG. 4 is a schematic explanatory diagram of a third embodiment of a cushioning material device used to carry out the method for transporting perishables according to the present invention. In this example, the basic technical idea is the same as that in the first example, and not only the citric acid solution but also the soda carbonate powder 6 is placed in the container 5, so the details are as follows. Further explanation will be omitted.

According to the present invention, the Wl and f11 functions are exerted, and it is not only effective in maintaining the shape of items, but also in the production of fruits, flowers, etc.
The carbon dioxide gas that permeates and leaches into the container during transportation of vegetables and other perishables is effective in preserving the freshness of these vegetables, fruits, and flowers. Extremely high. Furthermore, the volume occupied by the cushioning material device during inventory and transportation can be reduced, and storage costs and transportation costs can be reduced.
