【考案の詳細な説明】
本考案は鋼管で形成した車両用のラツクピニオ
ン式舵取装置におけるラツク軸に関する。DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a rack shaft in a rack and pinion type steering device for a vehicle made of a steel tube.
この種舵取装置のラツク軸には、第6図に示す
如く鋼管の一部に塑性加工によつて成形した平坦
部にラツク歯部を形成して重量を軽減するものが
提案されている。そしてこの様なラツク軸は、従
来の中実軸のラツク軸と同様に、ラツク歯部に噛
合うピニオンとの噛合い接触部にグリスを塗布し
て、噛合いを滑らかにしている。しかし、長期に
亙つて使用しているとグリスが劣化し、ラツク歯
部とピニオンとの噛合い接触部の摩耗が大きくな
つて、噛合いがガタが大きくなるという不都合が

明する。第1図は本考案実施例のラツク軸を示す
ものである。略D型形状の鋼管内孔の平坦部1の
略中央に外周平坦部方向に窪む凹溝部2を形成
し、前記凹溝部2とラツク歯4の歯底部5とを連
通する通路6を形成した。前記凹溝部2は、第2
図に示す如く、薄肉素材鋼管を、円弧溝部7を有
する下型8に置き、その下型8の上に、パンチ9
が往復動するパンチ孔10と前記鋼管を押圧固定
する円弧部11,11とを有する上型12を置
き、パンチ9による平坦部13の成形時に鋼管内
孔に装入されていた心金(図示せず)により成形
された。そして、前記通路6は、平坦部13に歯
切り、ブローチ加工等の切削加工によつてラツク
歯4を形成し、そのラツク歯4の歯底部5と鋼管
内孔の平坦部1に成形した凹溝部2とが交差し
て、鋼管内孔3とラツク歯4の歯底部5とを連通
して形成される。又、第3図,第4図に示す如
く、前記凹溝部2の深さ寸法lを、形成するラツ
ク歯4の歯底部5の位置より僅かに小さくして、
ラツク歯4を形成後肉薄部tを残すようにし、ラ
ツク歯4を高周波焼入する際に肉薄部tを溶かし
てラツク歯4の歯底部5と鋼管内孔3とを連通す

軸15はラツクガイド19により摺動支持され、
そのラツクガイド19はバネ20により押圧され
ているので、その結果ラツク歯とピニオンとの噛
合いガタが除去される。前記ピニオン18の回転
によつて前記ラツク軸15は軸方向に移動され、
操向車輪(図示せず)を左右に動かして操舵を行

有する鋼管に形成されたラツク歯の歯底部に鋼管
内孔と連通する通路を有するラツク軸を大量生産
することが出来る。又、鋼管内孔にグリスを充填
するだけで長い間ラツク歯とピニオンとの滑らか
