Abstract

PURPOSE:To securely eliminate a defect in coating by detecting the coating state right after paint is applied by a color tone sensor. CONSTITUTION:The coated surface X of a body 1 is coated with the paint in order by a coating device 2 and the color tone sensor 7 detects the color tone wave of a primer right after the body 1 is coated right behind the coating part. Then the color tone wave which is detected by the sensor 7 is outputted to a chromaticity meter 9, which compares a reflected wave obtained by a photodetection part with a preset color tone wave to output a coating defect signal if sensing wavelength other than the coating color tone wave is sensed. Consequently, the defect in the coating of the paint can be detected automatically and the reliability of an automatic coating system can be improved.

In order to achieve the above object, this invention sequentially applies paint to the coating surface using a coating jig, detects the tonal waves of the applied paint by a color tone sensor installed immediately behind the coating part, and detects the detected color tone. The gist of this method is to automatically detect coating defects by inputting wave data into a chromaticity meter and comparing it with preset color tone wave data.
