Abstract

PURPOSE:To transmit the picture data in accordance with the remaining capacity of a memory of a facsimile equipment set at the reception side and to prevent the communication abnormality due to the shortage of the memory capacity by adding the storable capacity of the memory to the communication control procedure signal via the facsimile of the reception side and informing a facsimile of the transmission side of the storable memory capacity. CONSTITUTION:In case the quantity of data stored in a memory of the transmission side is larger than the remaining capacity of a storing/receiving memory 13 of the reception side and the transmission equivalent to several pages is possible, the information on the receptable capacity (m) of the reception side is added to a nonstandard signal NSF 1 and sent to the transmission side. At the transmission side, the number (x) of transmittable pages is decided form the capacity (m) and the capacity (n) of the stored data. Then the procedure end EOP and a line cut instruction DCN 4 are transmitted for completion of the communication when the transmission is through with the picture data PIX 2 on (x) pages. Then the communication is carried out again after a period of time sufficient enough to record the (x) pages received at the reception side. Thus the (x+1) and subsequent pages are transmitted. When the capacity (m) is equal to such a remaining capacity amount that is unable to send the stored data equal to only one page, a line cut instruction DCN 6 is transmitted to complete the transmission. Thus the occurrence of the communication abnormality can be prevented.

In the conventional facsimile communication method, which stores image information in memory and sends and receives it, if the data storage capacity of the memory of the receiving facsimile is less than the data storage capacity of the sending facsimile, the receiving facsimile The memory capacity of the facsimile is used up, and communication is terminated as a communication error on both the facsimile sending and receiving sides.

In the conventional facsimile communication method described above, if the storage capacity of the storage and reception memory prepared on the receiving side is smaller than the storage capacity of the sending side's memory, the free space in the receiving side's memory will be exhausted during image data transmission. There is a problem in that once the number is gone, communication is terminated as a communication error. In this case, the sending side does not know the cause of the abnormality on the receiving side, and when communication is performed again, it appears that the terminal abnormality continues because there is no free memory space on the receiving side. Furthermore, if the sending side performs communication again after completing the recording of the stored and received page, the storage and reception memory with the same capacity as before is prepared, so a communication error occurs when the same page is sent again.

The facsimile communication system of the present invention is a facsimile communication system in which a sending facsimile transmits original data stored in a memory to a line, and a receiving facsimile stores original data from the line in a memory and receives it.
The receiving facsimile adds the amount of data that can be stored in the memory to a communication control procedure signal and transmits the signal, and the transmitting facsimile transmits the document data according to the received data amount.

Before transmitting the document 7, the sending facsimile reads it with a scanner 8 and stores it in the memory 9 of the stored data file. For transmission to the receiving facsimile, it pulls out the stored data from the memory 9 and sends it to the line 11 through the modem 10. Send to.

The receiving facsimile machine receives the received data from the line 11 through the modem 12 and stores it in the storage/reception file memory 13 for reception. After reception is completed, the stored received data is pulled out from the memory 13 and is printed and recorded by the printer 14. and output the recording surface 15. Therefore, the receiving capacity is determined by the remaining capacity of the storage/receiving file, so the receivable capacity m can be known before communication (reception).

If the amount of data stored in the sender's memory is larger than the remaining capacity of the receiver's memory 13 for storage and reception, but it is possible to send several pages, the facsimile communication control procedure (CCITT recommendations) is performed as shown in Figure 2. (T2O), information on the receivable capacity m of the receiving side is added to the non-standard signal (NSFI) and sent to the transmitting side. The sending side compares the value of m received in NSF 1 with the amount of accumulated data n, and determines the number of pages that can be sent
Determine. Start communication and send image data PIX of page X
When the transmission in step 2 is completed, the next page actually exists, but the receiving side does not have any more receiving capability, so the procedure ends (
EOP) and a line disconnection command (DCN4) to terminate communication. Thereafter, after enough time has elapsed for the receiving side to record the received X page, communication is performed again and the receiving side is caused to transmit from page x+1.

Next, FIG. 2 shows an example of the procedure when the remaining capacity of m received by N5FI is such that not even one page of stored data can be sent. If the receivable capacity m indicated in the non-standard signal (NSF5) is smaller than the storage capacity n of the first page of stored data, a line disconnection command (DCN6) is sent to terminate the process.

As explained above, in the present invention, the receiving facsimile adds the storage capacity of the memory to the communication control procedure signal and notifies the sending facsimile, so that the sending facsimile responds to the remaining memory capacity of the receiving facsimile. The present invention has the advantage that it is possible to transmit image data, and prevent communication abnormalities caused by insufficient memory capacity of the receiving facsimile machine.
