In this type of rod-type hydraulic shock absorber, it is necessary to supply oil to the oil chamber below the piston as the piston rises at the beginning of the extension stroke, but conventionally oil is supplied through a long oil path in the anti-dive mechanism. Because of the replenishment, the transition to the extension stroke was not smooth, and some abnormal noises were even generated.

In the pushing stroke, when the inner cylinder 3, rod 5, and piston 6 move downward relative to the outer cylinder 2 and the seat pipe 4, an amount of oil corresponding to the intrusion volume of the rod 5 flows into the seat pipe inner chamber S. 2 to the oil passage 12a provided in the nut member 12..., the oil passage 22 of the anti-dive mechanism 20, the gap ΔS, and the oil hole 23a of the valve seat member 23.
It flows into the sheet pipe outer chamber S3 through the sheet pipe.

By the way, in a vehicle such as a two-wheeled vehicle to which such a hydraulic shock absorber 1 is applied as a front fork, when braking is applied while driving, the center of gravity of the vehicle moves forward due to inertia, the shock absorber 1 is compressed, and the front of the vehicle body moves downward. Trying to sink in.

However, the pressure oil generated in the master cylinder during braking is transferred to the anti-dive mechanism 20 via the hose 28.
The pressure is supplied to the pressure chamber S4 , where it acts on the right end surface of the plunger 26 to move the plunger 26 to the left in FIG. This plunger 26 moves the valve member 25 in the same direction, causing the valve member 25 to close the oil hole 23a of the valve seat member 23. As a result,
During the pushing stroke, the flow of oil from the seat pipe inner chamber S2 to the seat pipe outer chamber S3 is blocked, and the downward movement of the inner cylinder 3, rod 5, and piston 6 is prevented, and the anti-dive mechanism is activated. The front part of the vehicle body is effectively prevented from sinking, and the longitudinal stability of the vehicle is not impaired.

Next, when the shock absorber 1 moves to an extension stroke, the interior of the seat pipe S2 must be replenished with oil in an amount equivalent to the volume of the rod 5 withdrawn. Conventionally, oil was supplied to the seat pipe inner chamber S 2 from the seat pipe outer chamber S 3 via oil passages 22, 12a, etc.
Since the length of the oil passage 22 is long, oil replenishment cannot quickly follow the upward movements of the rod 5 and piston 6, resulting in the above-mentioned inconvenience.

However, according to the present invention, the seat pipe outer chamber
The oil in S3 is in oil passage 1 provided in oil lock piece 11.
1b..., the check valve 13, and the oil passage 12a..., the sheet pipe interior chamber S2 is quickly and reliably replenished through the shortest route, so that the transition to the extension stroke is smooth and reliable, and no abnormality occurs. No sound is generated.

As is clear from the above description, according to the present invention, oil is supplied via the shortest oil path at the time of transition to the extension stroke, so that the transition to the extension stroke is achieved smoothly and reliably.
