従来技術 従来電子複写機の帯電装置としてはコロトロン
を使用したコロナ帯電器が多く採用されてきた。
しかしこのコロナ帯電器は放電現象を利用するた
めオゾンを発生して大気を汚染したり、放電の際
感光体や放電線が劣化するなどの不具合があつ
た。かかる不具合を改善するものとして、最近で
はロールコアの表面に多数の導電性ブラシbを植
設した第1図に示すようなブラシ帯電装置が提唱
されている。上記ブラシ帯電装置は500〜2KVの
直流電源cを印加させた状態で一定方向に回転さ
せ、導電性ブラシbの先端を感光体dの表面に接
触させて、感光体dの表面を一様に帯電するもの
で、接触帯電を利用しているため、放電現象によ
るオゾンの発生や感光体の劣化などの不具合は解
消される。

一帯電が可能になると共に、他の部分には太径繊
維を使用しているため、長期間使用していても毛
足の長さの減少が少なく、これによつてブラシロ
ールの耐久性向上も図れるようになる。
