Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify a tape lapping stage and to reduce the cost of production by providing notches to the ends of the tape sliding surface of a magnetic core formed with a working gap. CONSTITUTION:A pair of core blocks 1A, 1B consisting of a magnetic material, such as oxide or magnetic metal material, are butted against each other with the side provided with a groove 2 for a winding window faced on the inner side to constitute the magnetic core having the working gap 3. The notches 4, 4 are formed to both ends of the tape sliding surface formed with the working gap 3 and the front surface part of the tape is subjected to tape lapping so as to form the tape sliding surface, by which a head chip is obtd. The magnetic head of the low cost is obtd. with the good mass productivity in this way.

Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 〔産業上の利用分野〕 本発明はビデオテープレコーダ(VTR) 、デジタル
オーディオテープレコーダ(DAT) 、フロッピーデ
ィスク装置など特に高密度磁気記録を必要とする情報記
録再生装置に用いられる磁気ヘッドに関し、特にヘッド
前面部分の加工を容易にし、製造工程の簡略化を図った
磁気ヘッドに関するものである。

面に作動ギャップ3を形成した磁気コアが主体とされて
構成されている。一対のコアブロックLA、IBが突き
合せて構成された磁気コアは、作動ギャップ3側に形成
されるテープ摺動面Pを設けるべく、円筒研摩方法など
の方法により、R研摩が施され〔第3図(B))、その
後にテープラップによりテープ摺動面Pの全体を所定の
形状に仕上げられる〔第3図(C)〕。ここで、R研摩
は例えば#1000〜#2000の微粒の砥石を回転さ
せ、その端面にヘッド加工部を上下に首振り振動させな
がら接触させて、研削加工を行なう工程であり、またテ
ープラップは、ラッピングテープ(マイラーベース上に
#1000〜#8000の砥粒を付着させたテープ)を
走行させ、ヘッド前面部を機械的に上下、揺動運動を行
って加工する仕上げの工程である。

、製造工程が複雑化してコストアップになる問題を有し

し〔第1図(B))、テープ摺動面となるべくヘッド前
面部分に対してテープラップを施し、第1図(C)に示
すヘッドチップを得る。
