Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium with excellent durability by incorporating a specific ester compd. into the magnetic layer formed on a nonmagnetic supporting body. CONSTITUTION:The ester compd. expressed by formula I (wherein R1 to R4 are independent, straight or branched chains of alkyl groups or alkenyl groups with 3 - 18 carbons) is added as a lubricant to the magnetic layer formed on a polyester film. The magnetic layer also contains magnetic powder and a binder. By using a specific ester compd. as the lubricant for the magnetic layer, the medium with excellent durability can be obtained.
