Next, the operation will be explained. When a wave is introduced into the terminal P1 of the first suspended line 1, a portion of the introduced wave is transferred to the second suspended line at the portion where the strip conductors 1a, 1b and 2a, 2b are arranged close to each other. Combine to 2. When the wavelength of the portions placed close to each other is approximately 1/4, the combined wave does not propagate to terminal P 4 but is extracted to terminal P 3 .

Since the conventional suspended line type directional coupler is constructed as described above, it is not possible to narrow the interval S between the strip conductors 1a, 1b and 2a, 2b below a certain dimension due to manufacturing constraints. There was a problem that tight coupling of about -10 dB or more could not be obtained.

Embodiment FIGS. 1 and 2 show an embodiment of the present invention in which the same parts as in FIGS. 4 and 5 are given the same reference numerals. FIG. The figure is a sectional view taken along the line of FIG. In FIG. 1, reference numeral 4 denotes a through conductor that passes through the dielectric substrate 3 and connects the strip conductors 1a and 1b or 2a and 2b.

The inner conductor of the first suspended line 1
In the portion arranged parallel to the suspended line 2, the width of the strip conductor 1a on the front surface is made wider than the width of the strip conductor 1b on the back surface. Further, in the inner conductor of the second suspended line 2, the width of the strip conductor 2b on the back side is made wider than the width of the strip conductor 2a on the front side in a portion arranged parallel to the first suspended line 1.

The wide surfaces of the strip conductor 1a of the first suspended line 1 and the strip conductor 2b of the second suspended line 2 are placed opposite to each other and parallel to each other by about 1/4 wavelength. Furthermore, two through conductors are provided for each of the first and second suspended lines 1 and 2 at an interval of approximately 1/4 wavelength.

Since the suspended line type directional coupler of the present invention has the above structure, the capacitance between the first and second suspended lines 1 and 2 is increased due to the effect of the opposing width surfaces. Therefore, the effect is similar to that of narrowing the spacing between the conventional strip conductors 1a, 1b and 2a, 2b, and a tightly coupled directional coupler can be realized.

The function as a directional coupler is similar to that of a conventional suspended line type directional coupler, and the wave introduced to terminal P1 is extracted to terminals P2 and P3 .
It does not appear on terminal P4 .

In addition to the electric field distribution mode shown in FIG. strip conductor 1a
Also, electric lines of force 6 are generated from the outer conductor 5 to the strip conductor 1b, which may deteriorate the characteristics. However, with the through conductor 4 provided on the suspended line, the strip conductors 1a and 1 on both sides
b, 2a, and 2b are respectively connected to have the same potential, so that the excitation of unnecessary modes is suppressed, and problems such as deterioration of characteristics do not occur.

Furthermore, in the above embodiment, the case where the length of the closely arranged portions is about 1/4 wavelength was explained.
Needless to say, it can also be used in a suspended line type directional coupler where the length of the adjacent portion is an odd multiple of about 1/4 wavelength.

As described above, according to the present invention, two suspended lines, each of which has a pair of strip conductors with different widths on both sides of a dielectric substrate, are arranged so that the wider sides of the strip conductor with the wider width face each other. , and the strip conductor pair is connected by a through conductor that passes through the dielectric substrate. Therefore, a tightly coupled suspended line type directional coupler with no characteristic deterioration due to unnecessary modes can be created with a simple structure. It has the advantage of being inexpensive.
