Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of wind slop by installing an air dam made of an elastic material on the front edge of a sunroof. CONSTITUTION:A roof opening portion 2 is made to be opened or closed with a sunroof 3, and a deflector 4 is inclinably installed at the front edge of the opening portion 2 to lead a current of air to above the opening portion 2 as an automobile is running. A sunshade 5 and a roof trim 6 are installed in parallel under the sunroof 3. A rectangular air dam 7 is bendably hinged to the front edge of the sunroof 3 via a hinge member, and the height of the air dam 7 is such that it covers the front edges of the sunshade 5 and trim 6 when the sunroof 3 is fully opened. This arrangement causes part of an air current that passed over the deflector 4 to strike the air dam 7 and move upward when the sunroof 3 is fully opened, thereby preventing occurrence of wind slop. When the sunroof 3 is fully closed, the deflector 4 collapses and is enclosed with the air dam 7 resting on it.

2. Description of the Related Art Sunroof vehicles are widely used in which a roof opening is provided in a portion of a roof panel and the opening is opened and closed by a sunroof. When such a sunroof vehicle is driven with the sunroof fully open, a wind slop phenomenon occurs due to the flow of air above the roof panel, giving a harsh and unpleasant sensation to the occupants. Therefore, a deflector is provided at the front edge of the opening in order to prevent unpleasant air vibrations in the room when driving with the sunroof fully open and to increase the ventilation effect (see Japanese Utility Model Application No. 63-9033).

However, in conventional sunroof vehicles equipped with only a deflector, the airflow that passes through the deflector hits the trailing edge of the roof opening and generates an edge tone, which becomes an excitation source and causes Helmholtz resonance.
There is a problem in that it causes so-called windslop, which makes passengers feel uncomfortable.

According to the present invention, since the air dam hangs down from the front end of the sunroof when it is fully open, most of the airflow while driving flows above the ruler opening, and some airflow hits the air dam downward. No vortices or edge tones are generated, and windslop can be prevented.

FIG. 1 shows a part of a sunroof vehicle, in which a roof opening 2 is formed in front of a roof panel 1. The roof opening 2 can be opened and closed by a sunroof 3, and the sunroof 3 can slide back and forth inside the roof panel 1 along a guide groove (not shown).

A deflector 4 is tiltably attached to the front edge of the roof opening 2. This deflector 4 guides airflow above the roof opening 2 when driving.
Even without defragmentation, the airflow rises along the windshield, so most of the airflow is directed above the roof opening.

Further, according to the present invention, an elongated air dam 7 is bendably hinged to the front edge of the sunroof 3 via a hinge member 8. Instead of the hinge member 8, a V-groove may be provided in the longitudinal direction of the air dam, and the air dam may be bent at this groove. It is preferable that the air dam 7 is made of rubber or other elastic material. As is clear from FIGS. 2 and 3, the height of the air dam 7 is desirably set to a size that can cover the front end of the sunshade 5 and the roof trim 7 from the front when the sunroof is fully opened. This can prevent edge tones from occurring.

Since the embodiment of the present invention is configured as described above, when the automobile is driven with the sunroof 3 fully open,
A part of the airflow that has passed through the deflector 4 hits the air dam 7 and rises, but windslop can be prevented without producing edge tones as in the conventional case.

Furthermore, when driving with the sunroof 3 fully closed, the deflector 4 falls down and the air dam 7 bends at the hinge member 8 when the sunroof 3 is brought to the fully closed position, as shown in FIG. The deflector 4 rides on the deflector 4 and is stored.

As is clear from the above description, according to the present invention, since the air dam is provided at the front end of the sunroof, windslop can be reduced without generating edge tone near the rear edge of the sunroof opening.
