Abstract

PURPOSE:To omit the use of a press-fixed switch, a photosensor, etc., by deciding the presence or absence of an original based on the signal read out of a white reflecting plate set at a main scan position and the signal read out of the original. CONSTITUTION:When an original to be transmitted is set and a transmission operating switch is pushed, a control part 5 moves the image to the reading position of an image sensor part 1 via a drive part 7. The part 1 outputs the reading data on the set original as the voltage value. This output voltage value is inputted to an original deciding part 4 via a switch part 6 together with the voltage value of the stored white data on a white reflecting plate. Then both voltage values are compared with each other to decide the presence or absence of the original and an original presence/absence signal 4a is outputted. The difference is produced between the voltage value set to the white of the reflecting plate and that set to the white of the original even in case the contents of the original are white. Thus the part 4 can decides the presence or absence of the original. As a result, a press-fixed switch, a detecting element like a photosensor, etc., can be omitted.

In conventional facsimile transmitters, the determination that the document to be sent is set in the transmitter is done by installing a crimp-type switch such as a bin switch or a photo sensor that uses light near the document insertion area inside the transmitter. In the type switch, the photo sensor determines the presence or absence of a document by blocking light when the switch is turned ON or OFF.

In the conventional facsimile transmitter mentioned above, the sensor switch does not operate reliably unless the original to be sent is set accurately in the original insertion area when sending a crimp switch, and it is determined that the original is not inserted. Sometimes I put it away.

In addition, when using a crimp type switch, the installation position and installation method must be considered so that the switch will always operate when a document is set, and the durability and sensitivity of the switch will be affected due to increased usage. High reliability is also required.

A photo sensor is similar to a pressure-type switch, and in particular, if the optical axis of the light-receiving element is misaligned, it may always erroneously recognize that a document is inserted. From the above points, the above-mentioned sensor has a problem in that high reliability of the parts used and accuracy of installation etc. are required.

The signal processing section 2 outputs a digital signal obtained by converting the signal output from the image sensor part 1. The white reflector data reading section 3 stores the voltage value of white data read when there is no document by using a white reflector provided at the scanning position before reading the document. The document determining section 4 compares the voltage values of the first number series outputted from the image sensor section 1 with the voltage values of the data column stored in the white reflector reading section 3 to determine the presence or absence of a document. The control section 5 controls each section.

Next, when a document to be transmitted is set and the transmission operation switch is pressed, the control section 5 causes the traveling section 7 to move the document to the reading position of the image sensor section 1. The image sensor part 1 outputs data obtained by reading the set document as a voltage value. This output voltage value is input to the document determining section 4 via the switching section 6, and the voltage value of the stored white data of the white reflector is also input, and the respective voltage values are compared to determine the presence or absence of the document.A document presence/absence signal Even if the content of the document is white, there is a difference between the voltage value of the white reflector for white and the voltage value for white of the document.
You can judge whether there is a manuscript or not.

As explained above, the present invention detects the presence or absence of a document by determining the presence or absence of a document based on the signal read from the white reflector provided at the main scanning position and the signal read from the document.
