Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need of the honeycomb structure applied with the catalyst promoting deodorizing effect and to make an air cleaner in a small- sized and light-weighted structure of low cost by applying the catalyst promoting deodorizing effect to a dust collecting electrode of electrostatic precipitating part. CONSTITUTION:An electrostatic precipitating part A, a deodorizing part B applied with the catalyst promoting deodorizing effect, a sterilizing part C, and a blower part D constitute an air cleaner. And, the catalyst 7 promoting deodorizing effect is applied to the dust collecting electrode 2 of the electrostatic precipitating part A. Namely, the dust in the air is accumulated in front of the dust collecting electrode near an ionizing electrode, and is difficult to be accumulated in the rear half of the dust collecting electrode near the blower part, so that the catalyst promoting deodorizing effect applied to the dust collecting electrode is not covered by the dust with the result the deodorizing effect is not deteriorated. Moreover, as the honeycomb applied with the catalyst promoting deodorizing effect is not in need of installation, the air cleaner is made in a small-size and light-weight unit with low cost.

The blowing section has a fan 6 and is for sucking air from which dust has been removed and discharging clean air. In an air purifier having such a configuration, when gas or air containing dust 8 passes between the dust collection electrodes 2 from left to right as shown by the arrow in FIG. 8
Some of the suspended particles are removed by a pre-filter (not shown). The remaining suspended particles are charged by corona discharge caused by the DC electric field between the ionization electrode 3 and the dust collection electrode 2, and then the suspended particles are attracted to the dust collection electrode 2 at ground potential, and the dust collection electrode Dust 8 is gradually deposited on 2.

In the figure and FIG. 2, an ionizing electrode 3 is shown between the dust collecting electrode 2.
They are arranged so that they are sandwiched between them, but such arrangements can be stacked in multiple stages to increase the dust collection effect. Air passes from the left to the right in the drawing due to suction from the blower. Floating particles of dust 8 contained in the air are given an electric charge by the ionization electrode 3 and are attracted to the dust collection chamber 52 at ground potential.
