Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize densification without increasing cost by constituting an LED head by arranging LED array chips each having light emitting parts arranged in a zigzag pattern. CONSTITUTION:A printer is constituted of a photosensitive body A and an LED head B while the latter is opposed to the photosensitive body A. LED array chips 1 are mounted on a substrate 2 and the substrate 2 is mounted to a cover 3 for fixing a SELFOC lens array 4. The lights emitted from the LED array chips 1 are condensed by the SELFOC lens array 4 and the photosensitive body A is exposed to the condensed light. Each of the LED array chips 1 has light emitting parts 51, 52 alternately arranged in a zigzag pattern and several LED array chips 1 are arranged so that the light emitting parts 51 on an odd number side and the light emitting parts 52 on an even number side are respectively arranged on straight lines. When printing is performed using the printer using this LED array, the lighting timing of the light emitting parts on the odd number side and that of the light emitting parts 52 on the even number side are shifted at the time of exposure to prevent the disturbance of a printing image.
