Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a ring body in a proper and stable shape at low cost by constituting the ring body by coupling endlessly two or four arcuate pieces in the same shape which are curved arcuately and have scales on both top and reverse surfaces. CONSTITUTION:The ring body 2 of the terrestrial globe is constituted by connecting endlessly two or four arcuate pieces 5 in the same shape which are curved arcuately over a specific angular range and have the scale on both top and reverse surfaces. The size of a mold required to molding each arcuate piece 5 can be reduced greatly as compared with a mold required to mold the ring body 2. Consequently, the manufacture cost of the ring body 2 is saved and the ring body 2 in the proper shape can be formed stably.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) In the case of the above-mentioned globe, since the diameter of the ring body increases in proportion to the size of the sphere, there are problems in that a large die-casting mold is required to mold the ring body. Since the ring body shrinks and becomes distorted after molding, there is a problem in that it is difficult to mold a ring body having an appropriate and stable shape.

(Function) The ring body of the globe is divided into two or four equal-shaped arc pieces each curved in an arc shape over a predetermined angular range and each having an angular scale displayed on the front and back surfaces, and then divided into two or four equally shaped arc pieces, each of which is curved in an arc shape over a predetermined angular range, and placed adjacent to each other. An endless ring body is produced by connecting the two circular arcs C with their end portions overlapped with each other, respectively.

The ring body 2 was attached to the support base 1 via the thick part 15 so that the angle scale 9 of [0] was inclined at 23.5 degrees with respect to the horizontal plane, and the sphere 3 was inserted into the attachment hole 9. The ring body 2 is rotatably mounted via the mounting bracket 4 so that the two rOJ angle scales 9 face the equator, and the two 190" angle scales 9 face the north and south poles, respectively. Therefore, the size of the arc piece 5 is approximately 174 times the size of the ring body 2, and the size of the die-casting mold required for forming the circular arc 5 is smaller than that of the die-casting mold necessary for forming the ring body 2. It can be significantly reduced in size, and the manufacturing cost of the ring body 2 can be reduced.
