BACKGROUND ART Wire harnesses are generally made by bundling a plurality of wires together to form a wire assembly, with connectors attached to both ends.
As a method of branchingly connecting the electric wire b to the electric wire a between the two wire harnesses W 1 and W 2 as shown in FIG. 8, there is a method of using a pressure joint (branch connection) connector. As shown in Fig. 9, a branch terminal 2 having a plurality of slots 1 is press-fitted into a case 3 and fixed, and a plurality of electric wires a, b... with connecting terminals 4 crimped at one or both ends are connected to the case 3. Place the cover 5 on top, press it with a press jig (not shown), and press the pressing piece 6 on the back of the cover.
(FIG. 10), the electric wires a, b, . . . are press-fitted into the slot 1 to press-contact the electric wires to the branch terminal 2 and connect them to each other.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention In the method using the joint connector described above,
Two wire harnesses W 1 and W 2 cannot be assembled and completed independently. That is, it is necessary to connect the electric wires a and b to be branched in advance using a joint connector. For this purpose, a pre-process dedicated to wire wiring, pressure welding, and dedicated workers are required. In addition, the electric wires connected to the joint connector are divided into wire harnesses W 1 and W 2 according to their specifications (wire diameter, color of insulation coating, type of connection terminal, etc.).
It is necessary to divide the direction accordingly. Furthermore, the connecting terminal 4 of the branch-connected electric wire must be fitted into the connector c in a process different from that for the majority of other electric wires a 0 and b 0 (FIG. 8) that do not require branch connection.

As described above, with the conventional branch connection method, various processes are required to complete the assembly of the wire harness, and in particular, the work of separating the wire direction and fitting it into the connector is greatly influenced by the skill level of the worker, which reduces productivity. This was a major obstacle to improvement.

Means for Solving the Problems The wire harness branch connection method of the present invention includes:
A method of branching and connecting desired wires between a wire harness consisting of a plurality of wires each having a connector attached to the end and another wire harness, wherein one wire is selected from each of the wire harnesses. Alternatively, a locking device having a wire engaging portion is installed in the middle of a plurality of electric wires, and these locking devices are fixed in a line in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the wires to arrange the electric wires in parallel, and then a plurality of locking devices are arranged in parallel. The electric wires are press-fitted into the slots by pressing a cover having branch terminals on the lower surface with slots arranged in parallel over the locking devices fixed in a row.

The locking tools 12, 12' are box-shaped as shown in FIG. A hook-shaped insertion guide 12b is formed at the upper end opening for pulling out the electric wire. In addition, a pair of wire support pieces 1 are provided on the bottom walls of the locking tools 12, 12', which also serve as positioning grooves for branch terminals 15, which will be described later.
2c is provided in a protruding manner, and a pressing piece 12d for press-fitting an electric wire is provided in a protruding manner in the middle thereof. in this way,
The locking tools 12, 12' can be easily attached to desired positions of each of the sub-wire harnesses A to D by having the wire locking grooves 12a as wire engaging portions. It is preferable that the width of the wire locking groove 12a is approximately equal to the diameter of the wire so that the locking tools 12, 12' can easily slide along the wire.

That is, the cover 14 is formed with a locking arm 14a having locking holes 14b at both ends, and a chain-shaped branch terminal 15 is fixed to the back surface of the locking arm 14a as shown in FIG. This branch terminal 15 is formed by arranging a plurality of slots 15c for press-fitting electric wires in parallel at predetermined intervals from the bent side 15b of a conductive plate 15a bent into a U-shape, and on both sides of the conductive plate 15a. The free end portion is embedded in the cover 14 and molded.

As is clear from the above embodiments, when assembling each sub-wire harness A to D, A' to C', the locking tools 12 or 12' are temporarily fixed to the electric wires 10A to 10D to be branched and connected. Therefore, branch connections can be made easily and at any time, and there is no need to make branch connections in advance as in the conventional case. Further, the holder 13 may be used for the first time when actually making a branch connection. Further, if the electric wires of each sub-wire harness to be branched and connected can be easily identified by color-coding or the like, branching can be performed even after converging into one as described above.

Above, we have described an example in which the holder 13 for storing the locking tools 12, 12' attached to each of the sub-wire harnesses A to D is used as a means for fixing them in a line. In addition, an insertion member 16 is provided protruding from the bottom of the locking tool 12, 12', and this is fitted to a fixing plate 18 provided with a fitting frame 17 to fix the locking tool 12, 12'. The holder 13 can be omitted by employing various means such as providing an insertion member 16' and a fitting frame 17' on opposing surfaces of the holder and directly fitting and fixing them.

Further, the wire engaging portions provided on the locking tools 12, 12' may have any structure as long as the locking tools can be temporarily fastened to the wire, and are not limited to the structure like the wire locking groove 12a, for example, A pair of elastic clamping pieces (not shown) may also be used instead. Note that the above-mentioned locking tool and elastic clamping piece may be made of synthetic resin or metal.

After assembling the (sub) wire harnesses independently, branch connections can be made between multiple wire harnesses, so the sub wire harness consisting of the basic circuit and the sub wire harness for the optional circuit can be separated during the assembly process. This simplifies the assembly process, and eliminates the need for multiple attached wires to hang from the base wire as in the past.

In addition, by using the branch connection connector of the present invention, there is no need for a pre-process of just wiring and press-fitting the electric wires to the connector, so there is no need for a dedicated worker for that process. Since there is no need to perform pressure welding of various patterns in the previous process, mistakes in pressure welding are eliminated, inventory time is shortened, and troublesome sorting work (to connector housings) after branch connection is eliminated.
