(Prior art) Trucks, tractors, and fire engines that are mainly operated under harsh conditions generally use horizontal cyclone air cleaners, which have high dust collection efficiency and are suitable for water drainage. ,
The conventional one is shown in Fig. 4 A and B, in which one end of the peripheral wall 1a of the horizontal cylindrical case 1 is closed with an annular end wall 1b provided with an outlet pipe 1d connected to the intake pipe of the engine. On the other hand, the other end is open, and an inlet pipe 1C is tangentially attached to a position on the peripheral wall 1a near the end wall 1b.
A peripheral wall 2a having the same diameter as the peripheral wall 1a and having a slightly larger diameter annular step 2d at the connecting end to the case 1, an end 2b on the opposite side from the connecting end, and a partition plate 2c provided on the inner periphery of the connecting end. A dust pan 2 is removably attached to the peripheral wall 1a of the cylindrical case 1 by a plurality of clamp members 7 with the annular stepped portions 2d abutted against each other, and a window is provided above the periphery of the partition plate 2a. Hole 6
is bored in the cylindrical case 1, and inside the cylindrical case 1,

During use, the outside air flowing in from the inlet pipe 1c passes through the filter element 3 while being swirled by the swirling vanes 5a, and is then reversed and supplied to the engine from the outlet pipe 1d. Dust and water droplets (rainwater) are temporarily separated and enter the dust pan 2 through the window hole 6 and accumulate there, but water particles that are not primarily separated accumulate on the underside of the cylindrical case 1 and flow in a swirling manner. Due to the influence of the airflow, it is pressed against the partition plate 2a side and enters the dust pan 2 through the through hole 11, so that a certain amount of water accumulated in the dust pan 2 is opened and closed for the pulsating operation of the engine. plate valve 9
The water flows out to the outside from a drain port 8.

(Problems to be solved by the invention) By the way, in the above-mentioned conventional method, the only means for disposing of the water accumulated in the cylindrical case was to provide a through hole in the center of the lower part of the partition plate. When the engine enters an operating state with a weak intake effect, or stops and enters an idling state, the water that once entered the dust pan returns to the case through the hole along with the dust, and then When normal driving conditions resume, the air enters the dust pan again, repeating the phenomenon of going in and out, reducing the function of the air cleaner.

(Example) Figures 1 to 3 show examples of this invention, in which one end (left end in Figure 1) of the peripheral wall 1a of the horizontal cylindrical case 1 is an outlet pipe connected to the intake pipe of the engine. 1d, the other end is open, and the peripheral wall 1a is closed.
An inlet pipe 1c is attached tangentially to a position near the upper end wall, and the peripheral wall 1 of the cylindrical case 1
a peripheral wall 2a having the same diameter as a and a slightly larger diameter annular step 2d at the connecting end with the cylindrical case 1; an end wall 2b closing the end opposite to the connecting end; and a partition plate provided on the inner periphery of the connecting end. 2c, the annular stepped portion 2d of the peripheral wall 2a is butted against the other open end of the cylindrical case 1, and the peripheral wall 1a of the cylindrical case 1
They are removably connected by a plurality of clamp members 7 provided above, and a window hole 6 is provided above the periphery of the partition plate 2c, and a chrysanthemum-shaped pleat is provided inside the cylindrical case 1. A super-element 3 with end plates 3a and 3b attached to both ends of processed cylindrical paper.
are arranged concentrically, and are fixed to the cylindrical case 1 by connecting the end plate 3b on the dust pan 2 side to the V-shaped support frame 4, and the end wall 1b of the cylindrical case 1
A guide tube 5 is provided so as to surround the left half of the filter element 3, and a large number of swirling vanes 5a are arranged in parallel on the outer periphery of its tip, and a drain port 8 is provided in the center of the lower part of the end wall 2b of the dust pan 2. The structure is the same as the conventional one in that a rubber plate valve 9 is attached to the outside together with a cover case 10, and a through hole 11 is provided in the center of the lower part of the partition plate 2c.

By the way, in this invention, inside the dust pan 2, the lower side is opened at a position corresponding to the outlet part of the through hole 11 at the center of the lower part of the partition plate 2c on the side opposite to the cylindrical case 1, as shown in FIG. A case 12 is formed in a shape and has a width and height larger than that of the through hole 11, and its upper edge is connected to the partition plate 2c.
A sponge-like water-absorbent member 13 is tightly housed inside the case 12 and comes into contact with the outlet of the through hole 11 to block it.

Therefore, during use, the outside air taken into the cylindrical case 1 from the inlet pipe 1c passes through the filter element 3 while being swirled by the swirling vanes 5a as described above, and then reversed and flows to the engine side from the outlet pipe 1d. In the process, relatively large water particles enter the dust pan 2 through the window hole 6 along with the dust, and fine water particles flow down to the bottom of the cylindrical case 1 while being captured by the element 3 along with the fine dust. Due to the influence of the swirling air current, it is pressed against the partition plate 2c side and enters the dust pan 2 through the through hole 11.
When the water absorbing member 13 is saturated with water, the excess water flows along the bottom of the peripheral wall together with the water that directly entered the dust pan 2, and passes through the plate valve 9 that opens and closes due to the pulsation of the engine. Drain port 8
leaks to the outside from time to time. In this case, if the bottom of the peripheral wall 2a is tilted downward from the through hole 11 toward the drain port 8, drainage can be carried out more smoothly.

Even if the vehicle is driven slowly at low speed or idling, water and dust entering the dust pan 2 are blocked by the water absorbing member 13 and do not flow into the cylindrical case side.

(Effects of the invention) As described above, in this invention, as a horizontally mounted cyclone air cleaner as described above, a grid-like or mesh-like structure with a width A case with a height larger than the through hole is installed, and the water absorbing member is tightly housed within this case to close the outlet of the through hole, so even if the operating condition of the vehicle changes during use, The water that has flowed into the dust pan can be captured by the water absorbing member and can be reliably discharged toward the drain port without flowing back into the cylindrical case, and can also prevent dust from entering the case. The water absorbing member is held in a fixed position, and the function of the air cleaner does not deteriorate even after long-term use, making it suitable for industrial vehicles such as trucks.
