An electrochromic display element (hereinafter abbreviated as ECD) uses an electrochromic display material as a display electrode, and an electrolyte exists between the display electrode and a counter electrode placed opposite to the display electrode. This is an element that applies the phenomenon of electrochemical oxidation or reduction of a display material when a voltage is applied to it for display purposes, and there is also a method of using two display materials and using one as a counter electrode.

Conventionally, this type of display element has a complex structure, with a planar structure in which a set of electrodes are arranged, and there are many joints. As a result, the electrolyte may leak from the joints. In addition, the manufacturing cost tends to be high due to the need for expensive equipment such as vapor deposition equipment, and furthermore, handling during use is not always convenient.

The present invention was developed in view of the above-mentioned conventional problems. For example, a set of electrodes with a display material on metal is installed in a transparent circular tube, which generally requires fewer joints than a flat panel. Excellent leakage resistance.
The object is to obtain a display element that is detachable and inexpensive.

Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.
The figure shows an embodiment of the present invention, in which 1 is a glass cylindrical tube, 2 is a current collector terminal/lid made of stainless steel, 3 is a display electrode made of porous aluminum coated with tungsten oxide, and 4 is made of propylene carbonate with 0.3 This is an electrolytic solution in which mol/LiCLO 4 is dissolved. The display electrode 3 is electrically connected to the current collector terminal/lid 2. The appearance of the display element constructed as described above is exactly the same in shape and size as a commercially available cylindrical fuse.

Now, the element configured as described above can be manufactured at low cost because it has a small number of parts and does not require expensive equipment such as vapor deposition equipment for manufacturing, and also because the current collecting terminal also serves as a lid. It has excellent leakage resistance, and when used, it can be easily attached and detached like commercially available fuses, and can be easily handled and replaced by storing it in a fuse box.

Note that, as an application example of the display element according to the present invention, it can be used to detect the current status. That is, one display pole of the same element is set in advance in a colored state and the other in a decolored state. By supplying electricity through both terminals, the coloring and decoloring are reversed, and those that were in the colored state become the decolored state, and those that were in the decolored state become the colored state, thereby making it possible to display the energization status. By removing the display element from the mounting part and reinstalling it with both terminals facing in the opposite direction, it can be used as many times as needed in the same manner as the first time.

As described above, the present invention provides a display element that has an extremely simple structure, can be manufactured at low cost, and is convenient to handle.
