Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a tape cassette having satisfactory strength without deteriorating external appearance by forming recessing/projecting parts at a part or the whole of an intermediate part formed vertically on the junction surface between transparent and opaque resin parts to match both parts with each other. CONSTITUTION:A matching projecting part 21 having the height of about 0.005-0.3mm, for example, is provided to a part of an intermediate part formed vertically on the junction layer between the transparent parts 5 of case half bodies 2 and 3 of a tape cassette 1. At the same time, a matching recess part 22 is added to the part 5 in response to the part 21. Thus the part 21 of the bodies 2 and 3 is coupled with the part 22 of the part 5 and then formed integrally by welding at the injection molding. Thus the satisfactory strength is obtained even with the combination of materials having the comparatively small thickness of the part 5 or different types of materials which are hard to join with each other. In such a way, a tape cassette having the satisfactory strength is obtained without deteriorating the external appearance.

The present invention relates to a method for molding a tape cassette into which a magnetic tape is loaded, and the present invention relates to a method for molding a tape cassette that is integrally formed by injection molding through a molding process using a colored opaque resin and a molding process using a second colored transparent resin. In the method, a convex portion is provided on the transparent resin or the opaque resin in part or all of the intermediate portion in the vertical direction of the bonding surface between the transparent resin and the opaque resin, and a convex portion is provided on the opaque resin or the transparent resin corresponding to the convex portion. The transparent part and the opaque part are integrally molded with sufficient bonding strength without spoiling the appearance by providing a recess that fits into the transparent part and the opaque part.

Previously, a tape cassette as shown in FIG. 3 has been proposed in which one reel hub is provided with a transparent portion having a relatively large area so that the maximum amount of magnetic tape wound up can be easily viewed. That is, in FIG. 3, (1) indicates a tape cassette, and (1) of this tape cassette is constituted by a pair of half casings (2) and (3) joined together by screws. These housing halves (2) and (3) are each made of an opaque thermoplastic resin, such as styrene resin. (4) is a magnetic tape loaded into this tape cassette (1).

By the way, as mentioned above, the transparent part (5) of this tape cassette is formed by the casing halves (2) and (3) due to the heat and injection pressure of the molten transparent resin when injection molding the transparent B (5).
However, if the border between the transparent part (5) and the case halves (2) and (3) is made flat as shown in Figure 6, the transparent part (5) In cases where the transparent part (5) and the case halves (2) and (3) are made of a combination of different materials that are difficult to bond, the transparent part (5) and the case halves (2) and (3) may not be thick enough. (2) and (3) are insufficiently bonded, and when in use, the transparent part (5) is attached to the case half (2),
There was an inconvenience that it fell outside of (3).

For this reason, as shown in Fig. 7, the transparent part (5) and the case half (2
) and (3) are made in a step-like manner to increase the bonding area and thereby obtain sufficient bonding strength. In this case, as shown in Figure 8 (movable mold (15
) An annular step-forming convex portion (15a) is provided at a predetermined interval from the end around the upper surface of the case half (2), (
When the movable mold (15) is moved to close the second cavity (18) to injection mold 3), the annular step-forming convex 1s (15a) is inserted into the upper fixed mold (13).
The boundary between the first cavity (16) and the movable mold (15) is shaped like a step so that the half body (2) formed in the first cavity (16), ( 3
) by making the boundary surface with the transparent part (5) step-like, so that the transparent part (5) and the casing half (2) are formed subsequently,
The boundary with (3) is stepped.

By the way, in the tape cassette injection-molded in this way, an unnatural annular groove is formed on the inner surface of the transparent part (5) as a trace of the step-forming convex part (15a), as shown by the dotted line in FIG. (20), and this annular groove (20) impairs the appearance of the tape cassette.
