Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize the simple and accurate indication of a bar graph of numeric values of a large number of digits in a limited area, by a method wherein, as the ruled line form and indication method of a bar graph, a new system for indicating the unit of the numeric value per column section is employed, and the bar graph indicated per column section is always divided independently in each column section and formed by a continuation display method. CONSTITUTION:As the form and indication method of a graph, a bar graph indication method consisting of horizontal rules, vertical rules, or section paper made of horizontal rules and vertical rules in combination is employed. The type of respective ruled lines (digit indicating lines) 2 representing column units of the bar graph is determined to be clearly different from that of the other ruled lines. The respective digit indicating lines 2 clarify the indication of composition numeric digits divided into blocks per column section. The block of the column section is equally divided according to the type of the numeric value to be indicated. Furthermore, intermittent bars L of the numeric bar graph indicated within the blocks are independently divided per unit in the column section and intermittently formed by a continuation display. Ins this manner, the reading in the column section is simplified and facilitated, the unit and numeric value is readable at a glance, and a readability can be enhanced.

More specifically, the bar graph ruled line format and its display method are a new method that clearly indicates the unit of numerical value for each digit group, and at least the bar graph displayed for each digit group is always displayed within each digit group. By independently dividing and composing a continuous display method, it is possible to simultaneously display both extremes of large numbers of digits and detailed fractions within a limited display area such as a display. Regarding the new display format of bar graphs.

``Prior Art'' Conventionally, there have been various display methods for graphs in which units, numerical values, etc. are replaced with lines, areas, etc., such as pie charts, bar graphs, line graphs, 3D diagram graphs, coordinate graphs, etc. Bar graphs have been invented over the years, but bar graphs have been recognized as valuable in many fields because they are excellent in writing and speed-reading.

In particular, this bar graph has the characteristic that it can be easily created using commercially available regular graph paper or lined paper, and it also has the advantage of being able to easily create different numbers using quantities such as the length and height of the graph lines. When compared with each other, the results showed excellent comparability.

``Problem that the invention sought to solve'' However, conventional bar graphs have an excellent aspect of comparability when approximate amounts or differences from other numerical values are displayed adjacently in bar graphs. However, this bar graph had the biggest drawback.

In other words, items with a large number of digits cannot be displayed accurately. Furthermore, when emphasis is placed on the size of the number of digits, it has the inconvenient property of not being able to accurately display fractions. The reason for this is that a bar graph basically consists of a single line extending the numerical value to be displayed, or multiple overlapping lines.
When displaying numerical values of digits, lO digits, etc., the smaller digits that are included in the larger digit (in the case of the first digit, the tens is
This is because they are all displayed by passing through them with an extended graph line. Therefore, if you want to accurately display the number 20,532, even the fractions, on a lined paper with equal intervals, there will be a huge number of 20,532 scale marks to indicate the one-digit digit. There is a worry that it will become necessary and will not fit in the normal area. Furthermore, since it is easy to misunderstand data in the entry and recognition tasks, it becomes necessary to add units and numerical values to the bar graphs, and the user is forced to go through the troublesome double work of having to read the graph and the appended numerical values alternately. . Therefore, although conventional bar graphs have an excellent display format, they have the property of being able to display only small digit numbers or numbers rounded down after taking quantities, which limits their field of use. With modern technology demanding huge numbers and accurate fractions, there was a desire for a new, unprecedented graph format.

This is a bar graph display method consisting of vertical ruled lines, horizontal ruled lines, or graph paper that is a combination of vertical ruled lines and horizontal ruled lines, and each ruled line representing the digit unit of the bar graph (hereinafter referred to as digit display line 2) is At least, each digit display line 2 clearly indicates that the digits of a complex numerical value are divided into blocks for each digit section, and The digit block is divided into equal parts according to the type of numerical value to be displayed. Further, the intermittent bars of the numerical bar graph displayed within the block are continuously and intermittently displayed while being independently divided into units within the digit section.

``Function'' Now, in the graph form configured as described above, in which each digit group is made independent, the unit of each digit is made clear by the line classified for each digit group, and at the same time, the graph line within the digit group is Since the digits are independent, it is simple and easy to read the digits, and the unit and numerical value can be understood at a glance. Therefore, not only accuracy and speed are added to the work efficiency of the person writing the data, but also the speed of reading is improved since the person reading the data can decipher the numerical value just by reading the unit of the divided numerical value.
This eliminates the troublesome double work of reading appended numerical values and bar graphs alternately as in the past.

"Example" Next, graph formats and entry examples of the present invention will be explained based on the drawings. First, FIG. 1 is a diagram showing an embodiment of a horizontal interrupted bar graph of the present invention. ■It is the basic guiding line of the yo graph,
2 is a digit display line, 3 is an equal dividing line based on the decimal system, and 3^ is a guide line that divides the decimal system into two equal parts, and X is a 0 reference line, which displays the decimal point. It is good to use it in such cases. The division lines and X-rays of 2.3.3A have clearly different line types to strongly avoid misidentification. In addition, the numerical value of bar graph Ll illustrated in the graph of each figure is 38, L' is 54, L3 is 42.5, and L4 is 60.0.
5. LS shows a numerical value of 123. The zero reference line X or the digit position of these numerical values can be arbitrarily determined according to the type of graph to be created, the numerical values, etc.

The graph format of the present invention has a major feature in that it is divided into blocks for each digit group, and the entry in the bar graph is also divided into independent divisions.Comparing this difference with the conventional bar graph shown in Figure 2, the entry in the graph is It is clear how much time and paper space it uses, and how simple it is.

Further, FIG. 3 is a diagram showing an embodiment of the present invention in a vertical type. The intermittent bar graphs L1 and L5 on the left are drawn from the top in this figure, but it is desirable to determine the 0 reference line X depending on the type of numerical value. Alternatively, each digit may be alternately color-coded as shown in the figure. This color-coding method was alternated in Figure 3, but depending on the type of numerical value and the content of the created graph (for example, when displaying negative numbers or fractions, etc.)
In some cases, it may be a good idea to color code the digit sections in stages to display them more clearly. Also, if you separate positive and negative numbers by color, you will be able to read and write the units of numerical values in the graph more accurately. Finally, FIG. 4 is a diagram showing an embodiment of the present invention when an intermittent bar graph is displayed on a computer screen. Particularly suitable for computers is that multiple digits and extreme values of fractions can be clearly displayed simultaneously within a small display area, which is impossible with conventional bar graphs.

Further, although not stated in the claims section, if a name such as 100,000,000,000,000,000, etc. is added to each digit group, more accurate deciphering and faster reading will occur.

Finally, an example of filling in the bar graph L' (3111) is shown based on the drawing. For example, 38 is 30 and +8, so -
All you have to do is fill in 8 scales for the digits and 3 scales for the tens digits. In addition, when there is a 0 in the middle value like L', the part where the value is 0 is left blank or filled in with a thin line, dotted line, etc.

"Effects of the Invention" As described above, the graph format and its entry format of the present invention are as follows:
Since it is constructed by dividing into blocks for each digit block, the numerical value represented in each digit block can be clearly displayed. Conventional bar graphs have the inconvenient drawback that when there are many digits, they require a huge number of scales and extension lines, or they have to omit displaying fractional numbers. Therefore, a large amount of valuable time had to be consumed in creating the bar graph, but the interrupted bar graph of the present invention eliminates all of the drawbacks of the conventional bar graph.
