Abstract

PURPOSE:To transmit reason for an unreceivable state to a transmission side in a voice message by starting a voice message generating means to send a prescribed message to the transmission side when a recording paper deciding means decides that a recording part has no recording paper. CONSTITUTION:A recording paper deciding means 1 decides the presence or absence of the recording paper set at a recording means 9 after a circuit is closed at reception and informs the result of this decision to a message transmission control means 1. This means 1 starts a voice message generating means 8 to send a message showing the absence of the recording paper to the transmission side in case the absence of the recording paper is decided at the means 9 by the deciding means 1. Thus an operator hears the message at the transmission side and knows that no recording paper exists at the reception side.

(Prior Art) Conventionally, when the facsimile machine on the receiving side (called side) becomes ``out of recording paper'', if the navigation facsimile machine used automatic reception, manual reception is performed. Therefore, the sending side (calling side) continues to make telephone calls to the receiving side. According to such a conventional device, if there is no operator or the like on the receiving side, the ringing tone continues to sound, which causes the inconvenience that the sending side cannot understand why the receiving side cannot receive the call.

(Problem to be Solved by the Invention) In the conventional facsimile machine described above, manual reception is performed when the receiving side runs out of paper, so if the receiving side operator is absent, why is the sending side unable to receive the data? The disadvantage is that it is difficult to know what is going on and take appropriate measures. Therefore, the present invention is intended to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks, and is a facsimile machine that, when it detects a ringing tone from the sending side when there is no recording paper, can transmit a voice message to the sending side indicating that the reception cannot be received because there is no recording paper. The purpose is to provide equipment.

(Function) In the facsimile apparatus of the present invention, the recording paper determining means determines the presence or absence of recording paper set in the recording means after the line is closed at the time of reception, and notifies the message sending control means of this result. When the recording paper determining means determines that there is no recording paper in the recording section, the message sending control means activates the voice message generation means and transmits to the transmitting side a voice message informing that there is no recording paper. Thereby, the operator on the transmitting side can hear the voice message and know that the receiving side is out of recording paper.

Next, the operation of this embodiment will be explained. When an operator on the transmitting side (not shown) manually makes a call to the apparatus, the ring detection circuit 7 of the apparatus detects a ringing signal from the calling side and notifies the CPU 1 of this. On the other hand, a recording paper sensor (not shown) in the recording section 9 detects when the recording paper runs out and notifies the CPU 1 of this. Therefore, when the CPU 1 is informed of the detection of the calling signal, it determines whether there is recording paper in the recording section 9 or not.
It is determined that there is no recording paper, and if there is recording paper, the process then shifts to normal reception control. At this time, if this device is an automatic receiver, C
After PU1 closes the line, it switches the telephone line to the facsimile side and enters the normal reception control described above.

If the device is a manual receiver, the operator responds using the telephone 10 and then switches the telephone line to the facsimile machine. As a result, the CPU 1 thereafter enters normal reception control. However, if it is determined that there is no recording paper in the recording section 9, the CPU 1 closes the line, switches the telephone line to the facsimile machine side, and then activates the voice response circuit 8. As a result, the voice response circuit 8 sends a message to the transmitting side via the NCU 2 to the effect that the recording paper on the receiving side is running out. After that, the CPU1 disconnects the line by the NCU2. In the case of manual reception, the operator takes the telephone 10 off-hook and closes the line, and then notifies the transmitting operator that there is no recording paper.

FIG. 2 is an operation flowchart of the receiving side CPU shown in FIG. That is, when a call from the transmitter is detected via the ringing detection circuit in step 201, the line is closed, and in step 202 it is determined whether or not there is recording paper, and if there is recording paper, step The process proceeds to step 206, and if there is no such information, the process proceeds to step 203. At step 206, the line is switched to the facsimile machine side, and at step 207, normal reception control is performed, and the process ends. Meanwhile step 203
If the process proceeds to , the line is switched to the facsimile machine side, and then the voice response circuit 8 is activated in step 204 to send the voice message to the receiving side. Thereafter, in step 205, the line is disconnected and the process ends.

According to this embodiment, in response to a manual call made by the sender, if there is no recording paper in the receiving facsimile machine, the receiving facsimile machine sends a voice message to the sender from the voice response circuit 8 to the effect that there is no record paper. Therefore, the transmitting side operator can immediately know that the receiving side facsimile machine has run out of recording paper and is unable to communicate, and can take appropriate measures.
