Abstract

PURPOSE:To expand the electronic switching equipment being an object of monitor without increasing the installation of a control center by allowing the electronic switching equipment to return a reply message of a prescribed form in response to an incoming call from the control center. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 10 of a control center (OMC) 9 requests a call to a MODEM(M/D) 11 with an outgoing/incoming function so as to reach a telephone number assigned to a subscriber circuit (LC) 3 of the electronic switching equipment(EX) at a prescribed period. The M/D 11 dials and its call is reached to the LC 3 via a telephone network and a trunk circuit(TRK) 4. A central controller(CC) 7 of the EX 1 returns a reply message of prescribed form to the CPU 10 of the OMC 9 via a data transfer device (TC) 5, an M/D 6 and an LC 3. When the CPU 10 receives the replay message within a prescribed time, the CPU 10 discriminates the EX 1 to be normal and when no reply message is received even after a prescribed time elapses, it is outputted to an operation console device 12 to inform it to the maintenance personnel. Thus, the electronic switching equipment of the monitor object is expanded without increasing the installation of the control center.

Conventionally, the operating status monitoring method for this type of electronic exchange has been to install a terminal for monitoring each electronic exchange in a management center, transfer the operating status signal from each electronic exchange to this terminal, and transmit it via the terminal's display. Either a maintenance worker at the center can grasp the status, or a processing device connected to this terminal can determine the operating status signal.

As mentioned above, in the conventional electronic exchange operating status monitoring system, monitoring terminals are installed corresponding to each electronic exchange, so as the number of stations to be monitored increases, the number of terminals increases, making management difficult. The disadvantage is that a large floor space must be provided at the center.

With the above configuration, the present invention shown in FIG. 1 will be described in detail. 0MC9's CPU10 requests the M/Dll to make a call to the telephone number assigned to EXl's LC3 at regular intervals. The M/D 11 automatically dials the telephone number received from the CPU 10 after making a call. This call arrives at LC3 via the telephone network and TRK4. Upon receiving this call, CC7 of EX1 returns a response message in a fixed format to CPU10 of OMC9 via TC5, M/D6, and LC3. This response message is sent to the CPU
If EX1 is received within a certain period of time, CPU10 determines that EX1 is normal, and if no response message is received after a certain period of time, it outputs this to WSi2 and notifies the maintenance person.
