[Prior Art] Conventionally, the display of characters and the like on the display section of this type of handset has been fixed in one direction. FIG. 16 shows a conventional handset, where l is the handset main body, 2 is an operation section consisting of operation keys, and 4 is a display section for displaying characters 5, etc. In the conventional handset, the display direction of the characters 5 in the display section 4 is constant, and the display direction does not change no matter what condition the handset is used in.

きる。In the conventional telephone handset described above, the display direction of characters, etc. on the display section is fixed in one direction, so depending on the angle of the handset, the characters, etc. displayed on the display section may be upside down for the operator of the handset. There are cases where this happens. In particular, in the case of portable telephones, there are often restrictions on where the handset can be attached to the telephone body, so
It is not possible to install the display in an easy-to-read manner, and in the case of a car phone set, there is not much freedom in installation, and there are right-hand drive cars and left-hand drive cars. Therefore, if characters are displayed only in one direction, the display direction is often upside down or left and right, making it difficult to read the displayed content. The present invention has been made in view of the problem described in item L, and an object of the present invention is to provide a telephone handset in which the orientation of characters displayed on the display section can be changed depending on the usage status of the handset, and the displayed contents can be easily seen. shall be. [Means for Solving Problems] In order to achieve the above object, the telephone handset of the present invention includes a display section such as characters formed on the surface of the handset body, and a sensor that detects the direction of gravity built into the handset body. The structure includes a control section that changes the direction of characters, etc. displayed on the display section based on the signal from the gravity direction sensor. [Examples] Examples of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. First, the case of displaying in two directions will be explained with reference to FIGS. 1 to 11. In FIGS. 1 and 2, 1 is a handset body;
Reference numeral 2 denotes an operation section including operation keys, etc., 3 a sensor built into the handset main body l for sensing the direction of the center of gravity, 4 a display section displaying characters etc. 5, and 6 a control section built into the handset main body. FIG. 3 is a display example of one character when a 7×7 dot matrix is used to display characters on the display section 4 of the handset body l. When displaying using a dot matrix, it is usually possible to display characters 5 upside down by changing the program of the control unit (CPU) 6. A display example in that case is shown in FIG. Furthermore, in the case of a dot matrix of 11×n2 and n1=n2 as shown in FIG. 3, it is also possible to display the dot matrix rotated by 90° and 270° as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6. In FIG. 1, θ is the angle that the handset main body 1 makes with the vertically downward direction (downward in the paper, the same applies hereinafter). The telephone handset in the first embodiment of the present invention includes:
A sensor 3 that detects the direction of gravity is built into the handset main body l, and can distinguish between the following two states. −180<0<0 (1)0 ≦θ≦1
80 (2) However, in (+) and formula (2), the unit of θ is [0]. Based on the signal from the sensor 3 that detects the direction of the center of gravity, the control unit 6 determines the orientation of the handset main body 1, and depending on this orientation, the orientation shown in FIG. 7 or the orientation shown in FIG.
The character display 5 is displayed in the direction shown in the figure. Next, the operation of the first embodiment of the present invention will be explained. When the position of the handset main body l is determined in a certain usage state, a sensor 3 built into the handset main body l detects the direction of gravity.
In response to the signal from
, (2). For example, if θ belongs to (ri) (as shown in FIG. 9), the control unit 6 selects a program that displays the characters 5 in the state shown in FIG. , if θ belongs to (1), then
If the character display 5 is displayed in the direction shown in FIG.
In the case of 1), the characters etc. 5 displayed on the display section 4 are
As a result, when the handset body 1 is oriented as shown in FIG. 9, characters are displayed as shown in FIG. 1. In addition, when the /rod set main body l is positioned in the direction shown in Figure 1O where 0 belongs to (2), the above-mentioned θ is (1).
As a result, the character display on the handset body 1 becomes as shown in FIG. 11. Next, a second embodiment in which display is performed in four directions will be described. In order to perform display in four directions, characters etc. 5 on the display section 4 must be able to be displayed in four directions as shown in Figures 3.4 and 5.6 above, and a A sensor 3 that detects the direction of gravity is located on the handset body l.
It is necessary to have four different ways of discriminating the angle θ formed by the vertically downward direction. For example, the case of θ is -180<θ<-135, 135≦0≦180
(3) -135≦θ≦ -45 (4) -45<θ< 45 (5) 45≦
0≦135' (6), and the character display in each case of (3), (4), (5), and (6) is controlled by the control unit 6 from the 12th degree to the 13th degree.
14.15 Do as shown in Figure. That is, the second embodiment has the two-way display of the first embodiment, and the one shown in FIG.
In addition to the case where the handset body 1 is rotated by 90 degrees as shown in FIG. 14, the deviation between the upper part of the character display and the vertical direction is within 45 degrees no matter what angle the handset body 1 is at. However, in either case, if the display surface is almost horizontal,
For example, when the angle between the horizontal plane and the display surface is 20 degrees or less, the display direction should be kept constant regardless of the angle θ formed by the handset body 1, in order to prevent the display direction from changing more than necessary and making it difficult to read. You can also keep it in the same direction. [Effects of the Invention] As explained above, the present invention changes the direction of characters, etc. displayed on the display section depending on the position of the handset main body, so that even if the orientation of the handset main body changes, the display on one display section can be maintained. The content can always be displayed in an easily readable direction for the operator of the handset, without being upside down or upside down.
