Abstract

PURPOSE:To shield a digital display device provided on a dial without impairing the case design by opening and closing display windows of the digital display device by beautiful cap members. CONSTITUTION:A 1st pulse motor 21 for hand driving and a 2nd pulse motor 22 for disk driving are provided on the plate 20. The pulse motor 21 drives the hour hand 3 and the minute hand 4 via wheel trains 23, 24, 25. The pulse motor 22 drives a disk 7 via wheel trains 26, 27, 28. Three pieces of the window parts 7a are provided at every 120 deg. with the disposing position of the digital display device 6 as a reference to the disk 7 and further, 3 pieces of the cap parts 7b are provided to the intermediate positions of the respective window parts 7a. The functions as name plates printed with the timepiece manufacturer's name are provided as well to the cap parts 7b. The pulse motor 22 operates to rotate the disk 7 at every 60 deg. at every operation of a push button 9. The alternate operations to switch the display face of the display device 6 to the display state by the window parts 7a and the shielding state by the cap members 7b are thus executed.

Traditionally, there have been two types of electronic watches: pointer display type electronic watches with excellent design, and digital display type electronic watches with excellent multifunctionality. Display clocks have been commercialized and are becoming popular. This composite display watch has a display window with a digital display placed on a part of the dial of the pointer display device, so that the time display, which is the main function of the watch, can be performed using the well-designed pointer display device. The digital display device displays additional functions such as a calendar and an alarm.

However, although the above-mentioned composite display clock has been highly evaluated in terms of functionality, in terms of design, it is still dark in color within the display window where one character is temporarily formed compared to electronic watches with pointer display. Since the digital display device made of liquid crystal cells is visible, the overall image is dark and lacks elegance, making it difficult to use in high-end products.

However, although the cover attached to the outside of the case as in the above configuration can certainly shield the digital display device if necessary, on the other hand, it significantly spoils the design of the case, and is far from the image of a luxury product. It becomes a thing.
