Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily and accurately fit a magnetic sensor to a gear by covering the head of the magnetic sensor with an arcuate cap for gap setting, fixing the sensor while bringing the cap into contact with the gear, and then removing the cap. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic sensor head 4 is covered with the cap 6 for gap setting. The cap 6 consists of a gap setting part 7 and a leg part 8 which engages the flank of the head, the external surface of the gap setting part 7 is made arcuate matching with part of the external diameter of the gear 2, and the thickness of the center part of the setting part 7 is equal to a specific gap. When the head is fitted, the external surface of the cap 6 is brought into contact the gear 2 along its external diameter to fix the head 4 to a specific machine frame, etc., and then the cap 6 is detached to easily and accurately set the specific gap between the sensor 2 and gear 2.

For installation, use a gap gauge 1 as shown in Figure 2. However, since the front face 5 of the magnetic sensor head 4 is normally flat with respect to the outer diameter circle 3 of 1=72, it is not possible to align the center C of the magnetic sensor head 4 with the contact point P between the gap gauge 1 and the outer diameter circle 3. Difficult and requires time and skill for accurate installation.

The gap setting cap includes a gap setting part located in front of the magnetic sensor head and a leg part that engages with the side surface of the head, and has an outer surface of the gap setting part that corresponds to a part of the outer diameter circle of the corresponding gear. It is formed into an arcuate surface, and the central part of the setting part has a thickness that is thicker than the protrusion 17 that the magnetic sensor head takes for the corresponding gear.

As shown in FIG. 3, the gap setting portion 7 has an outer surface formed into an arcuate surface that corresponds to a part of the outer diameter circle 3 of the gear 2, and an inner surface formed into a flat surface. Minimize the distance (CP) between the center position C and the outer diameter circle 3,
This interval is made equal to the pitch t7 that the magnetic sensor head 4 should take with respect to the gear 2.

The magnetic sensor head 4 is handled as a product equipped with a gap setting cap 6. The cap 6 is attached to the head 4 so that its legs 8 engage with the sides of the head 4.

For example, as shown in FIG. 4, the magnetic sensor head 4 and the gear 2 have the gear 2 attached to the end of the rotor shaft 10 of the motor 9, and the magnetic sensor head 4 fixed to the machine frame portion 11 of the motor. At that time, the gap setting cap 6 is left attached and the outer surface of the cap 6 is brought into contact with the outer diameter of the already fixed gear 2 as shown in FIG. and then remove the cap 6.

When the magnetic sensor head 4 is brought into contact with the gap setting cap 6 along the outer diameter of the gear 2, since the outer surface of the cap 6 is an arc that corresponds to a part of the outer diameter circle 3, it stably contacts the gear 2. In addition, the gap that the magnetic sensor head 4 takes with respect to the gear 2 at the center zero point is always achieved as the distance CP, and no special technology is required. Further, since the gap setting cap 6 is removed after the magnetic sensor head 4 is fixed, there is no possibility that the set gap will be distorted.

As shown in FIG. 1, the shape of the gap setting cap 6 is such that the gap setting portion 7 is narrower than the diameter of the front face 5 that is attached to the magnetic sensor head 4, and also covers the front face. Also, the leg portion 8 may be attached to the magnetic sensor head 4.
Any type of material that engages with the side surface is sufficient. However, it is necessary that the magnetic sensor head 4 be easily attached and removed later.
