Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a steam iron compact and easy to carry without a worry about an electric shock or fire by consisting of a body in which quick lime and water are reacted chemically, heat generated being transmitted to a base, and stream generated is exhausted from an exhaust hole and a guide way leading steam exhausted from an exhaust hole forward of the body base. CONSTITUTION:A body 1 has a box form, containing quick lime and water to react chemically. Heat generated inside of the body 1 caused by a chemical reaction is transmitted to a base 1b. Steam generated is exhausted from an exhaust hole 3 to which a filter 4 made of high density fiber is attached to prevent quick lime or water from being discharged. On the body 1, casing 5 to cover it is attached and inside of the front wall 2 of the casing 5b a guide way 8 is formed to lead steam exhausted from the exhaust hole 8 into the inside of the front 6a forward of the base 1b of the body 1. Thus, without a power source, the iron is easy to carry and free from an electric shock or fire.

When quicklime and water are combined inside the main body, heat and steam are generated. This heat is transferred to the bottom surface of the main body, which has a flat surface. On the other hand, water vapor is discharged from a discharge hole provided at the top of the main body, and guided to the front of the bottom of the main body by a guide path. In this way, steam is first sprayed from the guide path onto the piece of cloth to be ironed, and immediately after that, the heated flat surface of the bottom of the main body passes through it, smoothing out the wrinkles in the piece of cloth.

A discharge hole 3 for discharging water vapor generated by the chemical reaction is provided in the upper IC at the front of the main body 1. It is best to provide about 2 to 4 small-diameter exhaust holes to prevent water vapor from being exhausted all at once. A high-density a-wave filter 4 such as the product name "Boatex" (Renown Co., Ltd.) or the product name "Nomex" (Higashi Co., Ltd.) is attached to the discharge hole 3, so that quicklime and water are removed from the discharge hole. This is to prevent it from being discharged from 3.

When a Japanese paper bag filled with quicklime is placed inside the main body 1 and an appropriate amount of water is injected, heat and steam are generated by a chemical reaction. Heat is transferred to the bottom IC, water vapor flows out to the front part 6a of the space 6 through the exhaust hole 3, and flows into the guide path 8.
It passes through and is discharged to the front of the IC on the bottom of the main body. Steam is first sprayed from the guide path 8 onto the piece of cloth to be ironed, and then the heated bottom IC passes through it.
