Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily reserve a desired program by a VTR by extracting a signal representing a time from a television signal, giving a present time to a timer controller and setting a timer to a desired time. CONSTITUTION:A TV radio wave received by an antenna 1 is demodulated by a demodulator 2 and given to a decoder 11. The decoder 11 extracts character information and a code multiplexed on a video signal and supplies them to the timer controller 12 and a memory 13. When a code representing a present time is received, the timer controller 12 converts the code into a control signal able to apply timer reservation and the time till the start of a program desired to be subject to video recording is set in a timer 10 in the unit of minutes. When the timer 10 expires, the output signal of the timer 10 controls a system controller 8 to switch a video head G into the video recording mode. Thus, the video recording of the program is reserved by a simple operation.
