Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the decomposition of sodium hypochlorite and to stabilize an aq. sodium hypochlorite soln. without causing any trouble at the time of use by adding a bromide to the soln. CONSTITUTION:A bromide is added to an aq. sodium hypochlorite soln. The bromide may be sodium bromide, potassium bromide, lithium bromide or hydrobromic acid and the amt. of the bromide added is 2-100%, preferably 2-50% of the amt. of the sodium hypochlorite in the soln. Crystals of the bromide may be directly added or may be added in the form of an aq. soln. Any trouble is not caused by adding the bromide together with other additives such as a surfactant and perfume.
