Generally, the connector of an IC socket is integrally formed with a contact piece (contact part) that makes contact with a number of terminals protruding from the lower end of the IC, and a terminal piece (terminal part) that is inserted into a wiring board, etc. An IC socket is one in which as many connectors as the number of IC terminals are inserted into an insulating socket body. An example of a conventional IC socket is shown in FIGS. 6 and 7. The connector 1 is formed into a predetermined shape by pressing a conductive spring plate material, etc. has a contact piece 10 that is raised and bent diagonally inward from both sides so as to sandwich the rc terminal, and contacts the IC terminal. It has a terminal piece 1 formed into a thin rectangular shape so that it can be connected to a wiring board or the like. The socket body (housing) 2 into which the connection device is inserted includes a frame body 20 in which a number of spaces 22 into which the individual connectors 1 are inserted are formed through the frame body 20 in the vertical direction, and a lid that closes the lower surface of the frame body 21. body 2
1, and the lid body 21 is formed with a fitting hole 22 into which the terminal piece 11 for connection is inserted. This lid body 21
is necessary to prevent solder franks vapor etc. from entering the space 23 side and damaging the IC terminals etc. when inserting the IC socket into a wiring board etc. and making a solder connection. It is.

To manufacture the above IC socket: 1. In advance, a so-called connector connecting body is manufactured in which a large number of the connectors 1 are lined up and connected to a strip-shaped carrier 12 (represented by a two-dot chain line in the figure) at the tip of the terminal piece 11. After inserting this connector connecting body into the space 23 of the frame body 20 from the contact piece 10 side opposite to the strip carrier 12, the connecting portion between the terminal piece 11 and the strip carrier 12 is cut. Therefore, a method is adopted in which the band-shaped carrier 12 is separated and removed. Note that the lid body 21 is

The connector is inserted from the lower end and integrally joined to the frame 20, or it is integrally molded in advance to the connector connecting body by means of insert molding or the like.

This IC socket manufacturing method allows a large number of connectors 1 to be handled as an integrated connector assembly, which is convenient for transporting and storing the connectors, and also allows for the insertion of the connectors into the socket body 2, which requires a large number of steps. Connectors can be inserted and inserted at the same time, which is extremely efficient, and is particularly advantageous when automatically assembling IC sockets.

However, in the case of the above-described conventional manufacturing method, each connector 1 is inserted into the space 23 of the socket main body 2 with the connector connected as it is, so the lower part of the insertion space 23 is the contact piece 1 of the connector 1.
It must be wide open to allow 0 to pass through. However, as described above, the lower part of the space 23 needs to be closed in order to prevent solder Franks vapor from entering. Therefore, in the above IC socket, the lower surface of the frame 20 is closed with the lid 21, but two parts, the frame 20 and the lid 21, are required, which increases the number of parts and also reduces the manufacturing process. This caused an increase in costs.

Note that the strip-shaped carrier 1 is attached to the tip of the connector 1 on the contact piece 10 side.
2, the connector 1 can be inserted from the upper side of the socket body 2, so if there is only the insertion hole 22 for the terminal piece 11 on the bottom surface of the socket body 2,
Other parts may be closed. therefore,
The entire socket body 2 can be integrally molded, and the number of parts can be reduced. but,
In this case, since the tip of the contact piece 10 is separated from the band-shaped carrier 12, a cut surface remains at the tip of the contact piece 10, which is very unsightly, and may get caught on the terminal of the IC and cause damage. There is a problem in that the contact piece 10 deforms during cutting, impairing connection performance.

Therefore, O's invention solves the above-mentioned drawbacks of the conventional IC socket connector assembly, reduces the number of parts in the socket body, and does not leave a cut at the tip of the contact piece, which impairs connection performance etc. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a connecting body for an IC socket that does not require the use of connectors, and to develop a method for manufacturing an IC socket using this connecting body for an RC socket.

Furthermore, if the continuous piece 43 and the intermediate piece 42 are connected to each other at a point where they are connected to each other, a constriction is provided or the wall is formed to be thin so that the continuous piece 43 and the intermediate piece 42 are connected to each other, thereby making it easier to handle. In addition, in the connector connecting body for an IC socket of the present invention, the location where the strip carrier and the connector are connected is not on the tip end side of the terminal piece as in the conventional case, but on the intermediate piece connecting the terminal piece and the contact piece. By being provided at the upper end, even if the lower surface of the space of the socket main body is closed, the connector can be inserted from the upper side of the space while continuing to be connected to the band-shaped carrier. Therefore, unlike in the past, there is no need to configure the socket body with two parts to close off the bottom surface of the space, and it is now possible to mold the entire socket body in one piece, reducing the cost of the IC socket. It can greatly contribute to improving manufacturing efficiency.

Moreover, the cut surface that separates the connector from the strip carrier is located at the upper end of the intermediate piece located at the center of the connector, and after the IC socket is manufactured, the cut surface is hidden inside the space, so the appearance The upper part is completely unnoticeable and has a good appearance, and the cut point is not directly related to the contact piece, so it is easy to
There is no fear that it will adversely affect the connection performance with the C terminal.

The continuous piece and the band-shaped carrier can be separated and removed from the connector by tilting the continuous piece toward the bending groove side and separating it from the continuous piece at the upper end of the intermediate piece. Therefore, there is no need to provide a joint between the strip carrier and the connector at the end of the connector as in the conventional case, and the IC socket connector connecting body of the present invention can be used to connect the IC socket. This makes it possible to manufacture the same, and it is possible to solve the above-mentioned problem caused by the cut end surface being exposed to the outside.
