Although aqueous solutions of water-soluble cutting fluids have many advantages over water-insoluble ones, they tend to breed bacteria and fungi and are susceptible to putrefaction, resulting in various undesirable changes.

In particular, the generation of hydrogen sulfide and the like by anaerobic sulfate-reducing bacteria has an adverse effect on the working environment due to its foul odor, making it difficult to carry out work. On days such as the day after a holiday, anaerobic bacteria increase due to lack of oxygen in the liquid, making the odor even worse. Due to the growth of other bacteria and mold, decomposition progresses and the foul-smelling liquid must be replaced.

However, research has not progressed on methods to directly remove the foul odor caused by rotting water-soluble cutting fluids.

There are isopropyl and butyl esters. The reason for the spoilage of aqueous solutions of water-soluble cutting fluids is that they contain carbohydrates, minerals, and proteins that are food sources for bacteria and mold, and the liquid temperature is suitable for the growth of bacteria and mold. It's for a reason.

By adding a very small amount of organic peracid to a water-soluble cutting fluid, it is possible to react with hydrogen sulfide and mercaptan and remove bad odors. Water-soluble cutting fluids are usually diluted 10 to 100 times with water and used as an aqueous solution.

Adding more than p will of course have the effect of removing bad odors, but conversely, the aqueous solution will have an unfavorable effect on the working environment due to the organic peracid odor, and may become unsuitable for practical use. The amount added is 20~

It is m. In practice, it is possible to remove bad odors by adding about 1100 pp of organic peracid to the amount of liquid, although it depends on the working environment and liquid temperature.

The aqueous solution was put into a flask with an air cooler and the flask was immersed in a constant temperature water bath at 35° C. for 3 days to spoil the aqueous solution. To this putrid aqueous solution, various amounts of a preparation containing peracetic acid, ie, 15% peracetic acid, 14% hydrogen peroxide, 28% acetic acid, and the remaining water were added, and the effectiveness was determined based on the odor. . The results are shown in Table 1.

Increase in costs due to disposal can be prevented. In addition, after the organic peracid acts, it decomposes into organic acid, water, and oxygen, and becomes a substance that is safe and harmless to the human body.
