Abstract

PURPOSE:To control a magnetic disk device to need the control of writing prohibition and reading prohibiting at high speed and to facilitate the control by providing a writing prohibiting attribute designating area and a reading prohibiting attribute designating area at the ID part of respective blocks of the magnetic disk device. CONSTITUTION:The ID part of respective blocks of a magnetic disk device is composed of a synchronizing pattern (PLO SYNC) to establish the synchronization, an address mark, a cylinder number (high order), a cylinder number (low order), a head number, a sector number, a flag, a writing prohibiting attribute designating area, a reading prohibiting attribute designating area, a cyclic redundancy checking (CRC) and a gap (GAP).
