Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a small and inexpensive recording head that needs no adjustment by providing a illuminant array in which a row of luminous elements are arranged, a transparent oxide film formed on the luminous surface and micro lenses disposed in the transparent oxide film. CONSTITUTION:A recording head comprises an LED array 5 in which a row of p-type layer 3 is arranged on a n-type layer 4, a transparent oxide film 2 formed of silicon oxide or the like on the luminous surface of these layers and micro lenses formed in the transparent oxide film 2 at the positions confronting the illuminant thereof. The micro lenses 1 are masked thereover except the small circular portions on the respective luminous spots of the transparent oxide film 2, and a material functioning to improve the refractive index is dispersed over the micro lenses 1. The light released from the respective elements of the LED array 5 is refracted by means of the micro lenses 1 formed on the transparent oxide film 2 and is converged on the surface of a sensitizing drum. Thus, a recording heat that is smaller than that employing lens arrays can be provided, and the fabrication thereof is made easy.

However, the SELFOC lens array is e.g.
mm, thickness of about 10 to 15 mm, and is placed in front of the light emitting part at a distance of about 5B, so it is large.
Another disadvantage is that it requires adjustment in combination with a light emitting element.

Referring to FIG. 1, which shows one dot in a longitudinal cross-sectional view, and FIG. 2, which shows a plan view from the light emission direction, the recording head of the present invention has a p-type layer on an n-type layer 4. An LED array 5 in which layers are arranged in a row, a transparent oxide film 2 such as silicon oxide formed on this light emitting surface, and a microlens 1 formed in a position corresponding to the light emitting body of this transparent oxide film 2. It consists of The microlens 1 can be formed by masking the transparent oxide film 2 except for the small circular portion above the light emitting point, and diffusing a material that increases the refractive index.
