する環状の第1のポールピース板と周縁部に筒部
を有しない第2のポールピース板とを、それぞれ
同軸的に固着して形成した環状のシール部材と、
前記2つのポールピース板の周面との間にギヤツ
プをおいて前記シール部材と同軸的に相対回転す
る磁性体よりなる回転体と、前記ギヤツプに磁石
板の磁力で保持された磁性流体とよりなり、かつ
前記シール部材は、その周面部に、前記第1のポ
ールピース板の筒部と第2のポールピース板の間
の隙間を開口部とし、かつその隙間相当の幅を有
するとともに、壁面を前記環状の磁石板と第2の
ポールピース板とで形成した環状の溝を有してい
ることを特徴とする磁性流体シール装置。 (2) 環状の磁石板の両端面に、外(内)径が磁
石板の外(内)径より大きく(小さく)、かつ周
縁に筒部を有する環状の第1のポールピース板と
外(内)径が第1のポールピース板と同じであり
、かつ周縁部に筒部を有しない第2のポールピー
ス板とを、それぞれ同軸的に固着して形成した環
状のシール部材と、前記筒部と磁石板の周面との
間に嵌着した環状の非磁性材と、前記2つのポー
ルピース板の周面との間にギヤツプをおいて前記
シール部材と同軸的に相対回転する磁性体よりな
る回転体と、前記ギヤツプに磁石板の磁力で保持
された磁性流体とよりなり、かつ前記シール部材
は、その周面部に、前記第1のポールピース板の
筒部と第2のポールピース板の間の隙間を開口部
とし、かつその隙間相当の幅を有するとともに、
壁面を環状の磁石板と第2のボールピース板と環
状の非磁性材とで形成した環状の溝を有している
ことを特徴とする磁性流体シール装置。 (3) シール部材が、その周面部に、第1のポー
ルピース板の筒部と第2のポールピース板の間の
隙間を開口部とし、かつその隙間相当の幅を有す
るとともに、壁面を第2のポールピース板と環状
