Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to repair a pipeline by lining while permitting a gas or the like to flow through the pipeline and with only one excavation site for the work, by pressing a wedge into a trapezoid or triangular notched part provided in a repairing cylinder to enlarge the diameter of the cylinder, thereby fixing the cylinder in pressure contact with the inner surface of the pipeline. CONSTITUTION:A repairing cylinder 1 is formed by circularly curving a metallic elastic material, providing both ends of the curved material with triangular (or trapezoid) notched parts 10, and providing the notched parts 10 with wedge guides 15. A wedge 2 is provided with a curvature approximately equal to the curvature of a pipe, and is shaped substantially in conformity with a taper 10' of the notched parts 10 of the cylinder 1, the resultant taper 2' being provided with a guide 2'' to be engaged with the wedge guide 15 of the cylinder 1. The tip of the wedge 2 is engaged with the inlet of the notched part 10 of the cylinder 1; the assembly is fitted to a pressing unit 3, and is inserted to an objective position in a pipeline (a), where the wedge 2 is pressed into the notched part 10 to enlarge the diameter of the cylinder 1, thereby fixing the cylinder 1 in pressure contact with the inner surface of the pipeline (a).

First, structural examples of the repair cylinder l are shown in FIGS. 2 to 6. This repair cylinder 1 is made by bending a metal elastic material, forming triangular (or trapezoidal) notches 10 at both ends of the curve, and forming wedge guides 15 in each of the notches 10. It is a structure. Further, the wedge 2 is formed to have a curvature approximately equal to the curvature of the pipe, and its shape is approximately equal to the taper IQ' of the notch 10 of the repair cylinder l. A guide 2'' that engages with the wedge guide 15 of the repair cylinder l is formed. The repair cylinder l and wedge 2 having such a structure
is attached to the press-fitting unit 3 as shown in Fig. 1 with the tip of the wedge 2 engaged with the inlet of the notch lO of the repair cylinder l as shown in Fig. 2, and inserted into the pipe a. The repair cylinder l is inserted to the desired position, and the diameter of the repair cylinder l is expanded by press-fitting the wedge 2 here, and the repair cylinder l is crimped onto the inner surface of the conduit a.

The wedge 2 is inserted in advance into the repair cylinder 1 only at its tip end, that is, up to the stopper 13 along the wedge guide 15 provided at the end of the notch 10 of the repair cylinder 1. In this state, the repair cylinder 1 is held at one end by the holding arm 7 on the air cylinder 4 side and by 7' at the other end, and the wedge 2 is held at one end by the press-fitting arm 8 of the extended piston rod 11. It is held in place and mounted on the press-fit unit 3.

[Effects of the present invention] As described above, the present invention press-fits a wedge into the trapezoidal or triangular notch formed in the repair cylinder to expand its diameter, thereby crimping the repair cylinder to the inner surface of the conduit. As a result, the following effects can be expected.

b. The lining press-fit unit can be inserted from one side of the pipe and pulled out from there, so there is no need to cut the pipe at two places and drill two working holes, reducing the number of workers and drilling. The overhead costs associated with this can be halved.
