Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the fitting of shielded cables of different diameters as a unit by winding a metal mesh around a shield layer exposed via the removal of a sheath over the predetermined length up to a diameter optimum for engagement with the hooking part of a cable clamp, and fixing the mesh via the engagement. CONSTITUTION:The sheath 3a of a shielded cable 3 is peeled off over the predetermined length and a shield layer 3b thereby exposed is wound with a metal mesh 8 up to a diameter optimum for engagement with the engagement part 7a of a cable clamp 7. Namely, the mesh 8 has a width W approximately equal to the length of the shield layer 3b and a given length L, and a clasp 9 having a hooking claw 9a is fitted to the upper and lower ends of the mesh 8 in a length-wise direction, using a caulking method and the like. If the diameter of the shield layer 3b is too small for the mesh 8 to agree to the engagement part 7a of the clamp 7, the mesh 8 is wound about the shield layer 3b, starting from the end thereof not fitted with the clasp 9. The widning end of the mesh 8 is hooked to the claw 9a and fixed, thereby keeping the diameter of the shield layer 3b equal to the engagement part 7a. The mesh 8, therefore, is engaged with the engagement part 7a with an optimum pressing force, and the sheilded cable 3 can be fixed to the fitting part thereof as a unit.
