Description

The present invention relates to a crowbar for removing nails.

A crowbar is a rod-shaped tool that uses the principle of leverage to pull out nails that have been driven into wood or other materials. It is generally made of metal and one end is bent into an L shape. There are also some with a nail puller attached to both ends, and some with a hammer attached to the other end of the bent end to make a T shape.

As described in Patent Document 1, an invention has been disclosed for a nail puller that can easily pull out even long nails without complicated preparation, is not bulky, and has a simple structure that makes it easy to manufacture.

Japanese Patent No. 5046346

However, the nail puller described in Patent Document 1 pulls out a nail by hanging the head of the nail in the roughly V-shaped notch of the working part, and using the fulcrum part as a fulcrum and moving the handle backwards using the principle of a lever so that the side part draws an arc, but when a nail is driven into wood or the like, the head of the nail cannot be hung in the roughly V-shaped notch of the nail puller unless it protrudes from the top surface of the wood or the like. For this reason, the pointed tip of the nail puller is used to carve out the wood or the like to forcibly expose the head of the nail, and then the nail can be hung in the roughly V-shaped notch.

In addition, when a lower piece of wood is fastened to an upper piece of wood with a nail, if there is a gap between the pieces of wood, it is possible to insert the pointed tip of a nail puller to widen the gap vertically and remove the nail, but it is difficult to remove the nail if there is no gap between the pieces of wood. To use the principle of a lever, such as with a nail puller, it is necessary to secure a fulcrum and a point of application.

Therefore, the objective of the present invention is to provide a crowbar that can easily separate pieces of wood and remove nails even when there are no gaps between the pieces of wood.

To solve the above problems, the crowbar of the present invention is characterized in that it has a head portion with a V-shaped groove formed in the nail puller at the tip, which is attached perpendicularly to one end of a rod-shaped shaft portion, and has overhanging portions that protrude on both sides of the head portion behind the nail puller.

The crowbar has a grip portion with a claw at the tip on the other end of the shaft, and protrusions protruding on both sides of the grip portion are provided below the claw.

The crowbar is characterized by having a hammer section provided behind the head section.

According to the present invention, even if there is no gap between the pieces of wood, the nail can be easily removed by pulling the pieces apart. When a nail is used to fasten a lower piece of wood to an upper piece of wood, the fulcrum is secured on the lower piece of wood, and the head of the nail is placed on the upper piece of wood as the point of action, allowing the wood to be easily pulled apart using the principle of a lever.

The following describes in detail an embodiment of the present invention with reference to the drawings. Components with the same functions are given the same reference numerals, and repeated explanations may be omitted.

First, the structure of the crowbar of the present invention will be described. Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the crowbar. Fig. 2 is a side view of the crowbar. Fig. 3 is a front view of the crowbar. Fig. 4 is a bottom view of the crowbar. Note that the side of the crowbar head where the nail puller is located is the front, the side where the hammer is located is the rear, and the side of the grip where the claws are located is the top.

As shown in FIG. 1, the crowbar 100 has a head portion 400 with a V-shaped groove 410a formed in a nail puller 410 at the tip, which is attached to a neck portion 210, which is one end (lower side) of a rod-shaped shaft portion 200, approximately perpendicular to the shaft portion 200, and a grip portion 300 with a claw portion 310 at the tip, at the other end (upper side) of the shaft portion 200.

The crowbar 100 is a tool used to pull out nails and other items stuck in wood, and is mainly made of metal such as iron. The tip of the long, thin rod is bent into an L-shape, and the short side of the rod is used as the point of application for hanging a nail. The bent part is placed against the wood as a fulcrum, and the long side is used as the point of force to rotate the rod, pulling it down and pulling out the nail with little force.

As shown in Figures 2 and 3, the shaft portion 200 is a rod that connects the grip portion 300 and the head portion 400. The upper end is connected to the grip portion 300, and the lower end is connected to the head portion 400 via the neck portion 210. By making it longer than the head portion 400, the force required to pull out a nail is reduced. When the upper portion of the shaft portion 200 is gripped with the hand, that is the point of force application.

The grip section 300 is connected to the shaft section 200 and is the section that is gripped by the hand to apply force. The claw section 310, which has a flattened tip, can be turned upside down and inserted into narrow gaps such as between pieces of wood fastened with nails to widen the gap, or can be used to hollow out the area around a nail driven into the wood and hook the claw section 310 onto the head of the nail to lift the nail.

The neck portion 210 serves as a fulcrum by connecting the shaft portion 200 and the head portion 400 at an angle close to a right angle. The shaft portion 200 extends upward, and the head portion 400 extends forward. It is preferable that the neck portion 210 is curved so that the shaft portion 200 can be easily rotated when it is placed against wood.

The head portion 400 is the point of action where the force required to pull out the nail is generated. It is connected to the neck portion 210 and has a nail puller portion 410 with a flattened tip and a V-shaped groove 410a split into two for hanging the nail.

As shown in FIG. 4, the head portion 400 has overhanging portions 420 that protrude to both sides of the head portion 400 rearward (lower in the figure) from the nail puller portion 410. Similarly, the grip portion 300 has overhanging portions 320 that protrude to both sides of the grip portion 300 below the claw portion 310.

The protruding portion 420 is provided to serve as a fulcrum in place of the neck portion 210 when it is difficult to use the neck portion 210, which is located on the opposite side (rear) of the nail puller 410, as a fulcrum. For example, this may occur when the point where the nail is placed against the wood is shifted to the side.

A hammer portion 500 is provided behind the head portion 400. The hammer portion 500 may protrude rearward from the shaft portion 200, or may protrude as little as possible so that it can be easily used as a fulcrum when removing the nail.

Next, we will explain the case of using a crowbar according to the present invention to remove a nail that has been driven into two pieces of wood. Figure 5 is a diagram showing how a crowbar is used to separate two pieces of wood with a nail driven into them. Figure 6 is a diagram showing how a gap has been created between the pieces of wood using a crowbar. Figure 7 is a diagram showing how a crowbar has been inserted between the pieces of wood. Figure 8 is a diagram showing how the head of a nail appears from the back side of a piece of wood that has been peeled away using a crowbar. Figure 9 is a diagram showing how a nail with a loose head is removed using a crowbar.

As shown in FIG. 5, for example, a vertical piece of wood 110a is fastened by a nail 120 so that the two pieces cross over each other on top of a horizontal piece of wood 110b. The head of the nail 120 is driven into the wood so that it is in contact with the top surface (front surface) of the wood 110a, and there is no gap 130 between the wood pieces 110a and 110b.

The nail puller 410 of the crowbar 110 cannot be inserted between the wood 110a and the nail 120, or between the wood 110a and the wood 110b, unless it is forcibly twisted in, and the nail 120 cannot be pulled out using the neck 210 as a fulcrum.

Therefore, the side of the nail puller 410 is placed against the side of the wooden piece 110b, and the top of the nail puller 410 is placed against the bottom surface of the wooden piece 110a, while the bottom surface of the protruding part 420 is placed against the top surface of the wooden piece 110b.

As shown in FIG. 6, when the shaft portion 200 is rotated backward with the protruding portion 420 as the fulcrum, the shaft portion 200 as the force point, and the nail puller portion 410 as the point of action, the nail 120 comes out a little, the wood 110a floats, and a gap 130 is created between the wood 110b and the wood 110a.

As shown in FIG. 7, the nail puller 410 is inserted into the gap 130 along the top surface of the wood 110b, and the shaft of the nail 120 is clamped in the V-shaped groove 410a of the nail puller 410. When the shaft 200 is rotated backward with the neck 210 or hammer 500 in contact with the wood 110b as a fulcrum, the wood 110a is peeled off from the wood 110b together with the nail 120.

As shown in FIG. 8, when the wooden piece 110a is turned over, the shaft of the nail 120 protrudes from the underside of the wooden piece 110a. When the shaft of the nail 120 is struck with the hammer unit 500 while the head of the nail 120 is not pressed down against the surface of the wooden piece 110a, the head of the nail 120 protrudes from the surface of the wooden piece 110a and becomes floating.

As shown in FIG. 9, the wooden piece 110a is turned over, and the head of the nail 120 that has risen above the surface (top surface) of the wooden piece 110a is hooked into the V-shaped groove 410a of the nail puller 410. The shaft 200 is rotated backward with the neck 210 or hammer 500 in contact with the wooden piece 110a as a fulcrum, and the nail 120 is pulled out of the wooden piece 110a.

The above are examples of the present invention, but the present invention is not limited to these. For example, the grip portion may not have a claw portion, or a V-shaped groove may be formed in the claw portion. Also, the head portion may not have a hammer portion.
