Description

The present invention relates to storage furniture and its assembly method.

As shown in Patent Document 1, a conventional storage furniture of this type is one in which a top and bottom panel arranged vertically and side panels arranged horizontally are assembled into a rectangular shape, with shelves arranged inside. This furniture does not have a back panel, and the rear ends of the side panels and top panel are fixed directly to the room wall with metal fittings, incorporating the room wall as part of the furniture (back panel), allowing the room wall to be seen through the furniture, and harmonizing with the furniture and the wall.

Japanese Utility Model Application Publication No. 50-61121

In the case of the furniture described in Patent Document 1, the back panel is formed by the wall surface inside the room, so a back panel is not required as a component, and by omitting it, the number of parts in the entire furniture can be reduced.

However, the remaining top, bottom and left and right side panels are essential, and the number of parts cannot be reduced any further.

The present invention was made in consideration of these points, and its purpose is to further reduce the number of parts in storage furniture by making improvements to the parts that are fixed to existing walls, thereby reducing the amount of construction required and cutting costs.

To achieve the above objective, this invention makes good use of the two mutually perpendicular wall sections that form an inside corner in an existing wall, and uses the existing wall structure to form not only the back panel of the storage furniture, but also one of the side panels.

Specifically, the first invention is directed to a storage furniture that is installed on an existing wall having first and second wall parts that are perpendicular to each other and continuous to form an inside corner in a room. This storage furniture is characterized by having a vertical frame that extends in the up and down direction along the first wall part and is fixed to the first wall part, a side panel that is arranged opposite the vertical frame and has a rear end fixed to the second wall part, and a fascia board that is fixed between the upper end of the vertical frame and the front upper end of the side panel.

In this first invention, a storage furniture is installed in the first and second wall sections that form an internal corner in an existing wall, and this storage furniture has a vertical frame that extends in the up-down direction along the first wall section, and this vertical frame is fixed to the first wall section. A side panel is arranged opposite the vertical frame, and the rear end of this side panel is fixed to the second wall section. Then, a valance is fixed at one end to the upper end of the vertical frame, and the front upper end of the side panel is fixed to the other end of the valance. In other words, the upper end of the side panel is fixed to the vertical frame and the first wall section via the valance, and the rear end is fixed to the second wall section. The side panel can also be fixed at the lower end to the floor surface.

In this way, the side panel of the storage furniture faces the first wall portion of the existing wall, and the other side panel is formed by the first wall portion. The back panel (back panel) is formed by the second wall portion of the existing wall. When the height of the vertical frame and side panels is the same as the height of the ceiling surface of the room, the ceiling surface can be used to form the top panel of the storage furniture, or a separate top panel other than the ceiling surface can be attached, so that the storage furniture is structured to be closed by the ceiling surface or top panel. On the other hand, when the height of the vertical frame and side panels is lower than the ceiling surface of the room, the storage furniture can be structured to have no top panel and be open upward. Alternatively, a separate top panel can be attached as described above, so that the storage furniture is structured to be closed by the top panel. In this case, the separate top panel can be one that is fixed integrally to the rear surface of the upper end of the fascia (a member in which the fascia and the top panel are integrated).

In this way, the storage furniture is constructed with one side panel as the first wall, the back panel as the second wall, the bottom panel as the floor, and if there is a top panel, the ceiling surface and the top panel, and since the structure utilizes these existing walls and floor surfaces, the minimum number of parts required is the vertical frame, the apron and the side panels, and fewer parts are required, which reduces the amount of work required to install the storage furniture, allows for less construction, and also cuts down the costs of the storage furniture.

In addition, it is easy to assemble large-capacity storage furniture that reaches almost the ceiling height.

The second invention is the storage furniture of the first invention, further comprising a positioning member arranged at the corner between the lower end of the first wall and the floor surface of the room so that its rear end abuts against the second wall, and the vertical frame is fixed to the first wall with the rear surface of the lower end abutting against the front end of the positioning member. The vertical frame is also provided with a base board that is placed on the floor surface with one end in the left-right direction abutting against the lower end of the vertical frame and the positioning member, and the other end abutting against the lower end of the side panel, and with its rear end abutting against the second wall. The depth of this base board in the front-to-rear direction is the same as the sum of the front-to-rear length of the positioning member and the front-to-rear width of the vertical frame, and its left-to-right length is the same as the left-to-right length of the apron. The base board is also characterized in that it is fixed to the lower end of the vertical frame and the lower end of the side panel.

In this second invention, a positioning member with its rear end abutting against the second wall portion is placed at the corner between the lower end of the first wall portion of the existing wall and the floor surface inside the room, and the vertical frame stands up along the first wall portion with its rear surface abutting against the front end of the positioning member, and in this state the vertical frame is fixed to the first wall portion. By abutting the rear surface of the vertical frame against the front end of the positioning member in this way, the distance of the vertical frame from the second wall portion becomes constant, and the fixed position in the front-to-rear direction on the first wall portion becomes clear, making it easier to fix it.

A base plate is placed on the floor between the first and second walls with its rear end abutting against the second wall, and one end of the base plate abuts against the positioning member and the lower end of the vertical frame in front of it, and is fixed to the lower end of the vertical frame. The front-to-rear depth of the base plate is the same as the sum of the front-to-rear length of the positioning member and the front-to-rear width of the vertical frame, so that the front end of the base plate (position from the second wall) coincides with the front end of the vertical frame. If the thickness of the base plate is the same as the top-to-bottom thickness of the positioning member, the gap between the first wall and the base plate at the rear of the vertical frame is filled with a positioning member of the same thickness as the base plate, and the base plate and the positioning member are continuous and flush with each other.

The other end of the base plate abuts against the lower end of the side plate and is fixed to the lower end of the side plate. As a result, the storage furniture has an internal space with the base plate and the positioning member as its bottom.

This results in a storage furniture piece in which the vertical frame is accurately positioned and fixed to the first wall portion, and the lower end of the vertical frame is connected to the side panel via the base board. Also, because the lower end of the side panel is fixed to the other end of the base board, there is no need to fix the lower end of the side panel to the floor surface; simply by fixing the side panel to the base board, the position of the side panel is determined, and positioning can be easily performed.

The third invention is a storage furniture according to the first or second invention, which is provided with at least one shelf arranged inside the storage furniture to vertically divide the interior of the storage furniture, and three crosspieces fixed to the first wall, the second wall, and the side panel so that they are at the same height. The shelf is supported by the three crosspieces.

In this third invention, crosspieces are fixed to the first wall, the second wall, and the side panel at the same height, and the shelf is supported by these three crosspieces. This structure makes it possible to attach at least one shelf to the storage furniture by utilizing an existing wall.

The fourth invention is characterized in that in the storage furniture of the first or second invention, the existing wall has a third wall portion that is continuous with the second wall portion so as to form a corner between the existing wall and the second wall portion, and the side panel is arranged flush with the third wall portion.

In this fourth invention, the first wall portion, the second wall portion, and the third wall portion of the existing wall are connected in a generally Z-shape in plan view, and when the storage furniture is installed in the recessed corner between the first wall portion and the second wall portion, the third wall portion, which is connected to the second wall portion and forms an outward corner, is arranged flush with the side panels of the storage furniture. In this way, the side panels of the storage furniture are arranged in a shape that is just an extension of the third wall portion, and no step is created between them. The protrusion of the existing wall formed by the second wall portion and the third wall portion is naturally hidden by the storage furniture, resulting in a neat appearance and also increasing safety by eliminating the protrusion of the existing wall.

The fifth invention is a method for assembling the storage furniture of the first invention, characterized in that this method includes a vertical frame attachment process for fixing the vertical frame to the first wall portion, a top panel attachment process for fixing one left-right end of the top panel to the upper part of the vertical frame fixed in the vertical frame attachment process, and a side panel attachment process for fixing the front end of a side panel to the other left-right end of the top panel fixed in the top panel attachment process, and the rear end of the side panel to the second wall portion.

In this fifth invention, when assembling storage furniture, in the vertical frame attachment process, the vertical frame is positioned and fixed in the up-down direction along the first wall portion of the existing wall, and in the next back panel attachment process, one left-right end of the back panel is fixed to the upper part of the vertical frame. After that, in the side panel attachment process, the front end of the side panel is fixed to the other left-right end of the back panel, and the rear end of the side panel is fixed to the second wall portion. This allows the storage furniture to be assembled smoothly and in a step-by-step manner and installed on the existing wall.

In addition, by assembling using the side panels as a starting point, the storage furniture can be more firmly fixed to the existing wall than if it were assembled separately and then fixed to the existing wall.

The sixth invention is a storage furniture assembly method according to the fifth invention, in which in the vertical frame attachment step, a positioning member is placed at the corner between the lower end of the first wall portion and the floor surface so that its rear end abuts against the second wall portion, and the vertical frame is fixed to the first wall portion with the rear surface of the lower end of the vertical frame abutting against the front end of the positioning member. Next, a base board is placed on the floor surface so that one left-right end of the base board abuts against the lower end of the vertical frame and the positioning member, and the rear end abuts against the second wall portion, and one end of the base board is fixed to the lower end of the vertical frame, and then a top board attachment step is performed. Then, in the subsequent side panel attachment step, the lower end of the side panel is fixed to the other left-right end of the base board.

In the sixth invention, in the vertical frame mounting process, a positioning member is placed at the corner between the lower end of the first wall portion and the floor surface so that its rear end abuts against the second wall portion, and the rear surface of the lower end of the vertical frame abuts against the front end of the positioning member, and in this state the vertical frame is fixed to the first wall portion. By determining the fixing position of the vertical frame to the first wall portion using the positioning member in this manner, the distance of the vertical frame from the second wall portion becomes constant, and the fixing position of the vertical frame to the first wall portion in the front-to-rear direction becomes clear, making the fixing easy.

Then, the base plate is placed on the floor. At this time, one end of the base plate in the left-right direction abuts against the lower end of the vertical frame and the positioning member, the other end abuts against the lower end of the side plate, and the rear end abuts against the second wall portion. One end of this base plate is fixed to the lower end of the vertical frame.

Next, the fascia board mounting process is carried out, in which one left-right end of the fascia board is fixed to the top of the vertical frame. In the final side board mounting process, a side board is fixed to the other left-right end of the fascia board, the rear end of the side board is fixed to the second wall portion, and the lower end of the side board is fixed to the other end of the base board.

In this way, storage furniture can be easily assembled and installed with the base plate placed on the floor as the bottom.

As explained above, according to the present invention, for an existing wall having first and second wall sections that are perpendicular to each other to form an inside corner, a vertical frame is fixed to the first wall section, a side panel that is arranged parallel to the vertical frame is fixed at its rear end to the second wall section, and a fascia board is hung and fixed between the upper end of the vertical frame and the upper front end of the side panel. This allows one side panel of the storage furniture to be made of the first wall section and the back panel to be made of the second wall section, resulting in a storage furniture with a minimum number of parts consisting of a vertical frame, fascia board, and side panels, and the number of parts and size of the components can be reduced, reducing the amount of work required for construction and reducing the cost of the storage furniture.

The following describes in detail the embodiments of the present invention with reference to the drawings. The following description of the embodiments is merely exemplary in nature and is in no way intended to limit the present invention, its applications, or its uses. Some of the drawings are drawn in perspective.

Figure 1 shows a storage furniture A according to an embodiment of the present invention, which is designed to be installed by being attached to an existing wall W in a room.

(Existing wall)
As shown in Fig. 2, the existing wall W has first and second wall portions W1, W2 that are continuous and perpendicular to each other in the room, and a third wall portion W3 that is continuous and perpendicular to the second wall portion W2, and is arranged in a substantially Z-shape in a plan view. An inside corner is formed between the first and second wall portions W1, W2, and an outside corner is formed between the second and third wall portions W2, W3. In Fig. 2, F is the floor surface of the room, C is the ceiling surface, and the existing wall W (first to third wall portions W1 to W3) extends from the floor surface F to the ceiling surface C.

In the layout of each room (living space) of a facility for the elderly, for example, in which a partition wall is connected to one wall section in the room to form a space such as a toilet, the existing wall W is configured so that the toilet partition wall protrudes into the room as the second and third wall sections W2 and W3, and the original wall section becomes the first wall section W1, forming a wall surface that is continuous in an approximately Z-shape in plan view. When the left side facing the second wall section W2 is set to "left", the right side to "right", the near side to "front", and the far side to "rear", respectively, the rear end of the first wall section W1 extending in the front-rear direction is continuous with the left end of the second wall section W2, and the rear end of the third wall section W3 extending in the front-rear direction is continuous with the right end of the second wall section W2.

(Storage furniture)
As shown in Figure 1, the storage furniture A is constructed so as to fill the corner between the first and second wall portions W1, W2 of the existing wall W. The storage furniture A comprises one vertical frame 1, one positioning member 2, one base board 3, one side board 4, one backboard 5, at least one shelf 6, and three crosspieces 7-9 (see Figure 11) for supporting the shelf 6, all of which are made of, for example, wood or non-wood materials.

Specifically, the core materials of the vertical frame 1, positioning member 2, base board 3, side board 4, backboard 5, shelf 6, and each crosspiece 7-9 can be wood materials such as particle board, plywood, LVL, MDF, etc., or non-wood materials such as iron, non-ferrous metals, resin, and inorganic fiberboard.

The vertical frame 1, positioning member 2, base board 3, side board 4, backboard 5, shelf 6, and each crosspiece 7-9 can be finished by painting the core material, using veneer, olefin sheet, or decorative paper.

The vertical frame 1, positioning member 2, base board 3, side board 4, fascia board 5, shelf 6, and each crosspiece 7-9 can be formed with a solid core or flush core.

The thickness of each of the above components (vertical frame 1, positioning member 2, base board 3, side board 4, and apron 5) is preferably 30 mm or more. In addition, the depth of storage furniture A in the front-to-rear direction is 300 to 600 mm.

(Vertical frame)
As shown in Fig. 1, the vertical frame 1 is a long, narrow plate located on the left side of the storage furniture A. As also shown in Fig. 3, the vertical frame 1 is arranged in the first wall W1 at a predetermined position on the front side of the second wall W2, and is fixed at multiple height positions with screws (not shown) or the like with its left side surface abutting against the first wall W1. The lower end of the vertical frame 1 rests on the floor surface F, and the upper end reaches the ceiling surface C.

(Positioning member)
The positioning member 2 is made of a small square timber that is arranged to extend in the front-rear direction at the boundary between the floor surface F and the lower end of the first wall portion W1. Its rear end abuts against the second wall portion W2, and its front end abuts against the rear surface of the lower end of the vertical frame 1. The positioning member 2 is used to determine the front-rear position of the vertical frame 1 on the first wall portion W1 (position from the second wall portion W2). The left-right thickness of the positioning member 2 is the same as that of the vertical frame 1, and the top-bottom thickness is the same as that of the base plate 3. When the positioning member 2 is placed on the floor surface F behind the vertical frame 1, its right side surface (vertical surface) is flush with the right side surface of the vertical frame 1, and its top surface is flush with the base plate 3 (see Figures 3 to 5). The positioning member 2 is not fixed to the first wall portion W1 or the floor surface F, but is simply placed on the floor surface F.

The thickness of the positioning member 2 does not need to be the same as that of the base plate 3, and the thicknesses of the two may be different if a step between them is acceptable. However, if the positioning member 2 is used as an extension of the base plate 3, it is preferable to make the thicknesses of the two the same so that they are continuous and flush with each other.

(Main plate)
As shown in Fig. 4, the base plate 3 is a plate material placed on the floor surface F to form the bottom of the storage furniture A. The depth in the front-rear direction of the base plate 3 is equal to the total dimension of the front-rear direction length of the positioning member 2 and the front-rear width of the vertical frame 1. The left-right length is the dimension obtained by subtracting the thickness of the vertical frame 1 and the thickness of the side plate 4 from the left-right width of the second wall portion W2. The base plate 3 is placed on the floor surface F so that its rear end abuts the second wall portion W2 and its left end abuts the positioning member 2 and the vertical frame 1, and its front end coincides with the front end position of the vertical frame 1. As described above, the thickness of the base plate 3 is the same as that of the positioning member 2, and the rear side of the left end of the base plate 3 is continuous and flush with the positioning member 2, so that the positioning member 2 is continuous with the base plate 3 to form an extension thereof, and the bottom of the storage furniture A extends to the very edge of the first wall portion W1.

The base board 3 is connected and fixed to the lower end of the vertical frame 1 at its front left side. In this connection structure, the left end face (end grain face) of the base board 3 abuts against the right side of the vertical frame 1, so that the vertical frame 1 and the base board 3 are perpendicular to each other, and as shown in Figure 5, they are fastened together by two fastening devices 20, 20 and one dowel 17. Specifically, the two fastening devices 20, 20 are spaced apart in the front-to-rear direction (the width direction of the vertical frame 1), and the dowel 17 is placed between the two fastening devices 20, 20.

(Fastening device)
Each of the fastening devices 20 is used when fastening two mutually orthogonal first and second boards with the end face (end face) of the second board abutting the side face of the first board. That is, in addition to the fastening structure between the right side face of the vertical frame 1 and the left end face of the base board 3, as described later, the fastening structure between the upper end of the vertical frame 1 and the left end of the skirting board 5, the fastening structure between the right end of the base board 3 and the lower end of the side board 4, and the fastening structure between the right end of the skirting board 5 and the front upper end of the side board 4 all have the same connecting structure in which the end face of the second board (base board 3, skirting board 5) abuts and connects to the side face of the first board (vertical frame 1, side board 4).

Here, we will explain in detail the fastening structure between the right side surface of the vertical frame 1 and the left end surface of the base plate 3 using the above-mentioned fastening devices 20. For other fastening structures, the same parts will be given the same reference numerals and detailed explanations will be omitted.

Figure 12 shows each fastening device 20. The fastening device 20 used in this embodiment is an existing commercially available product that combines a fastening fitting 21 and an insert female thread 33. The fastening fitting 21 is, for example, a product name "ITALIANA IT2180-2160" manufactured by Sugatsune Kogyo Co., Ltd., and a fixing screw 29 is assembled to the fitting body 22. The fitting body 22 has a male threaded portion 24 protruding from a cylindrical case 23 and a driven gear portion 25 consisting of a bevel gear or the like that is drivingly connected to the male threaded portion 24. As shown in Figure 13, the fixing screw 29 has a driving gear portion 30 on the outer periphery that meshes with the driven gear portion 25, and a tool hole 29a (see Figure 12) is formed in the head. Then, with the drive gear portion 30 of the fixing screw 29 inserted into the fixing screw insertion hole 26 in the middle of the case 23 meshing with the driven gear portion 25 of the metal fitting body 22, by engaging a tool in the tool hole 29a and turning the fixing screw 29, the driven gear portion 25 meshing with the drive gear portion 30 rotates, and this rotation rotates the male screw portion 24.

On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 14, the insert female thread 33 has a coarse male thread 34 like a wood screw formed on the outer circumferential surface of the shaft, and a bottomed screw hole 35 into which the male thread 24 of the metal fitting body 22 is screwed is concentrically provided within the shaft, and this screw hole 35 opens into a dish-shaped head. In addition, a tool hole 33a is formed in the head, located at the opening of the screw hole 35.

In response to this, the plate material to which the fastening fitting 21 of the fastening device 20 and the insert female screw 33 are attached is processed as follows. As shown in FIG. 15(a), a bottomed hole 11 is formed in the right side surface of the lower end of the vertical frame 1 (first plate material), and the insert female screw 33 is screwed into this bottomed hole 11 by the male threaded portion 34 and fixed, with the head of the insert female screw 33 being approximately flush with the right side surface of the vertical frame 1.

As shown in FIG. 15(b), a bottomed hole 14 is also formed in the left front end face of the base plate 3 (second plate material), and when the metal fitting body 22 is inserted into this bottomed hole 14, only the male threaded portion 24 protrudes from the left end face of the base plate 3 (see FIG. 5). A fixing screw fitting hole 15 is formed midway through the bottomed hole 14, branching off into which a fixing screw 29 can be fitted up to its head, and the fixing screw fitting hole 15 opens onto the top face (plate surface) of the base plate 3.

As shown in FIG. 16, the fixing screw 29 is fitted through the fixing screw fitting hole 15 of the base plate 3 to the metal fitting body 22 of the fastening metal fitting 21 inserted into the bottomed hole 14 of the base plate 3, and the drive gear portion 30 is meshed with the driven gear portion 25 of the metal fitting body 22. In this state, the base plate 3 is brought closer to the vertical frame 1, and the male threaded portion 24 of the metal fitting body 22 is rotated by rotating the fixing screw 29, so that the male threaded portion 24 is screwed into the threaded hole 35 of the insert female thread 33 of the vertical frame 1. The male threaded portion 24 is screwed into the threaded hole 35 to abut against the side of the vertical frame 1, and the base plate 3 is connected and fixed together.

As shown in FIG. 5, a dowel hole 12 is formed between two insert female threads 33, 33 on the right side of the lower end of the vertical frame 1. Meanwhile, a bottomed hole is formed between the male threads 24, 24 of the two metal fitting bodies 22, 22 on the left end face (end surface) of the base board 3, and a dowel 17 is fitted and fixed. When the base board 3 is fastened to the side of the vertical frame 1 by the two fastening devices 20, 20, the dowel 17 of the base board 3 is fitted and fixed in the dowel hole 12 of the vertical frame 1. The arrangement of the dowel hole 12 and the dowel 17 may be reversed, and the dowel 17 may be fixed to the vertical frame 1 and the dowel hole 12 may be formed in the base board 3.

Note that each fastening device 20 is not limited to the combination of the fastening metal fitting 21 and the insert female screw 33 described above. Of course, other fastening devices may be used as long as they are structured to fasten two mutually perpendicular first and second boards with the end face (end face) of the second board abutting the side of the first board. Examples of such fastening devices include "Raffix 20" and "Minifix 15" manufactured by Hafele Japan Co., Ltd., and "Titus Joint" and "Eccentric Joint" manufactured by Murakoshi Seiko Co., Ltd.

Furthermore, when fastening two mutually perpendicular first and second boards as described above with the end face (end grain face) of the second board against the side of the first board, it is also possible to adopt a structure in which the boards are joined using only fastening devices without using dowels, or conversely, a structure in which the boards are joined using only dowels without using fastening devices, or a structure in which the boards are joined using only fixings such as screws without using dowels or fastening devices.

(Side panel)

The front-to-back width (depth) of the side panel 4 is the same as the front-to-back width of the base panel 3, and the right end face of the base panel 3 abuts against the left side surface of the lower end of the side panel 4, and in this abutting state, the lower end of the side panel 4 and the right end of the base panel 3 are fastened together. In this way, both left and right ends of the base panel 3 are fixed to the lower end of the vertical frame 1 and the lower end of the side panel 4, respectively.

As shown in Figure 9, the lower end of the side panel 4 and the right end of the base panel 3 are fastened by three fastening devices 20, 20, ... and two dowels 17, 17. Because the front-to-back width of the side panel 4 is greater than the front-to-back width of the vertical frame 1, there is one more fastening device 20 and one more dowel 17 than in the connection structure with the vertical frame 1. The three fastening devices 20, 20, ... are positioned at both ends and the center in the front-to-back width direction of the base panel 3 (side panel 4), and one dowel 17 is positioned between two adjacent fastening devices 20, 20. As described above, each fastening device 20 has a fastening fitting 21 embedded in the base plate 3 with a male threaded portion 24 protruding from the right end surface of the base plate 3, and an insert female thread 33 embedded in the left side surface of the lower end of the side plate 4. By turning the fixing screw 29 of the fastening fitting 21 to screw the male threaded portion 24 into the threaded hole 35 of the insert female thread 33, the fastening fitting 21 and the insert female thread 33 are fastened together to fasten the lower end of the side plate 4 to the right end of the base plate 3.

The rear end of the side panel 4 abuts against the front right end of the second wall W2. As shown in FIG. 10, the rear end of this side panel 4 is fixed to the right end of the second wall W2 by a number of L-shaped metal fittings 38, 38, ... arranged vertically. In this fixed state, as shown in FIG. 1, the position of the right side of the side panel 4, i.e., the right side of the storage furniture A, coincides with the third wall W3 of the existing wall W, and the right side of this side panel 4 is arranged so as to be continuous and flush with the third wall W3.

(Spearboard)
As shown in Fig. 6, the above-mentioned skirting board 5 is made of a long and narrow plate material arranged in the left-right direction at the front upper end of the storage furniture A, and extends horizontally parallel to the above-mentioned second wall portion W2. The left-right length of the skirting board 5 is the same as the left-right length of the base board 3. The skirting board 5 is arranged so that its width direction is the up-down direction, and its left end is connected and fixed to the front end of the upper end of the vertical frame 1, and its right end is connected and fixed to the front end of the upper end of the side panel 4. As a result, the skirting board 5 is fixed between the upper end of the vertical frame 1 and the front upper end of the side panel 4. The upper surface of the skirting board 5 is in contact with the ceiling surface C.

As shown in FIG. 7, two fastening devices 20, 20 and one dowel 17 are used in the connection structure between the left end of the fascia 5 and the front end of the upper end of the vertical frame 1. The two fastening devices 20, 20 are arranged at both ends and the center of the fascia 5 in the vertical width direction, and the dowel 17 is arranged between the two adjacent fastening devices 20, 20. Each fastening device 20 has a fastening fitting 21 embedded in the fascia 5 with a male threaded portion 24 protruding from the left end surface of the fascia 5, and an insert female thread 33 embedded in the right side surface of the upper end of the vertical frame 1. The fastening fitting 21 and the insert female thread 33 are fastened together by turning the fixing screw 29 of the fastening fitting 21 to screw the male threaded portion 24 into the screw hole 35 of the insert female thread 33, thereby fastening the left end of the fascia 5 and the upper end of the vertical frame 1. The fixing screw 29 of each fastening fitting 21 is exposed to the rear side surface of the fascia 5, so it is not shown in FIG. 7.

On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 8, two fastening devices 20, 20 and one dowel 17 are used in the connection structure between the right end of the fascia 5 and the front end of the upper end of the side panel 4. The two fastening devices 20, 20 are arranged at both ends and the center of the fascia 5 in the vertical width direction, and a dowel 17 is arranged between the two adjacent fastening devices 20, 20. Each fastening device 20 has a fastening fitting 21 embedded in the fascia 5 with a male threaded portion 24 protruding from the right end surface of the fascia 5, and an insert female thread 33 embedded in the left side surface of the upper end of the side panel 4. The fastening fitting 21 and the insert female thread 33 are fastened together by turning the fixing screw 29 of the fastening fitting 21 to screw the male threaded portion 24 into the screw hole 35 of the insert female thread 33, thereby fastening the right end of the fascia 5 and the upper end of the side panel 4. The fixing screw 29 of each fastening fitting 21 is exposed to the rear side surface of the fascia 5, so it is not shown in FIG. 8.

(Shelves and battens)
The shelf 6 is fixed and supported inside the storage furniture A so as to divide the interior of the storage furniture A in the vertical direction. In this embodiment, there is only one shelf 6, and the shelf 6 divides the interior of the storage furniture A into two spaces, one above the other. The fixing structure of the shelf 6 will be described as follows: as shown in FIG. 11(a), the left side crosspiece 7 is fixed to the first wall W1 on the left side of the storage furniture A, the rear side crosspiece 8 is fixed to the second wall W2 on the rear side, and the right side crosspiece 9 is fixed to the side panel 4 on the right side with screws (not shown). Each crosspiece 7-9 is made of a square timber also called a joist, and the length of the left and right crosspieces 7, 9 is, for example, the same as the length of the positioning member 2 (the distance between the rear end of the vertical frame 1 and the second wall W2), and the length of the rear crosspiece 8 is, for example, the same as the left and right length of the base board 3 (the fascia board 5). These crosspieces 7-9 are arranged and fixed so as to be at the same height as each other.

As shown in Figures 11(b) and 11(c), shelf 6 is a plate-like structure with a frame 6a at the bottom front end that is reinforced with a reinforcing material (not shown). Its left end is placed on left side crosspiece 7, its rear end on rear side crosspiece 8, and its right end on right side crosspiece 9. In this state, it is fixed and supported by the three crosspieces 7 to 9 with screws.

As shown in FIG. 1, a number of brackets 40, 40, ... (only some are shown) are attached to the bottom of the shelf 6 in a line in the left-right direction so as to hang down, and a hanger pipe 41 is supported extending horizontally in the left-right direction between the brackets 40, 40, ... so that clothes hangers and the like can be hung on the hanger pipe 41. The hanger pipe 41 can be installed between the vertical frame 1 or the first wall portion W1 and the side panel 4, rather than on the shelf 6, or in addition to the shelf 6. The hanger pipe 41 is not essential, and only the shelf 6 may be provided.

There may be two or more shelves 6, and the interior of the furniture may be divided into three or more spaces. In that case, each shelf 6 is fixedly supported inside the furniture by crosspieces 7 to 9 in the same manner as described above.

The above is how the storage furniture A of the embodiment is constructed. The storage furniture A utilizes the living room toilet walls (second and third wall portions W2, W3) and ceiling surface C, and is a box-type storage furniture that does not require box construction because it does not have a top panel or back panel.

The storage furniture A may be fitted with a door that opens and closes its front opening. Depending on the width of the storage furniture A, a sliding door, folding door or swing door may be used as the door. In the case of a folding or swing door, a hinge for the left door is attached to the front end of the right side of the vertical frame 1, and a hinge for the right door is attached to the front end of the left side of the side panel 4, in multiple rows above and below, and the door is supported by these.

(How to assemble storage furniture)
A preferred example of an assembly method for the storage furniture A of the above embodiment will be described. First, as shown in Fig. 3, a vertical frame mounting step is performed to fix the vertical frame 1 to the first wall portion W1 of the existing wall W. In this vertical frame mounting step, a positioning member 2 is placed at the corner between the lower end of the first wall portion W1 and the floor surface F so that its rear end abuts against the second wall portion W2, and with the rear surface of the lower end of the vertical frame 1 abutting against the front end of this positioning member 2, the vertical frame 1 is abutted against the first wall portion W1 to stand up, and in this standing position, the vertical frame 1 is fixed to the first wall portion W1 with screws or the like.

At this time, the rear end of the positioning member 2, which is located at the corner between the lower end of the first wall portion W1 and the floor surface F, is abutted against the second wall portion W2, and the rear surface of the lower end of the vertical frame 1 is abutted against the front end of the positioning member 2, respectively, to fix the vertical frame 1 to the first wall portion W1, so that the fixing position of the vertical frame 1 to the first wall portion W1 can be determined using the positioning member 2. This makes the distance of the vertical frame 1 from the second wall portion W2 constant, making the fixing position of the vertical frame 1 in the front-to-rear direction on the first wall portion W1 clear, and the fixing work can be performed easily.

Next, as shown in FIG. 4, the base plate 3 is placed on the floor surface F, the left end of the base plate 3 is abutted against the lower end of the vertical frame 1 and the positioning member 2, and the rear end is abutted against the front surface of the second wall portion W2, and as shown in FIG. 5, the front end of the left end of the base plate 3 is fixed to the lower end of the vertical frame 1 with two fastening devices 20, 20 and one dowel 17.

Then, a fascia mounting process is performed in which the left end of the fascia 5 is fixed to the top of the vertical frame 1 fixed in the vertical frame mounting process. In this fascia mounting process, as shown in FIG. 7, the fascia 5 is positioned horizontally so that its width direction is the up-down direction, and its left end is fixed to the upper end of the vertical frame 1 with two fastening devices 20, 20 and one dowel 17.

Then, the side panel mounting process is carried out. In this process, the side panel 4 is raised and positioned so as to face the vertical frame 1 and the first wall section W1 behind it in the left-right direction, and as shown in FIG. 8, the front upper end of the side panel 4 is fixed to the right end of the skirting board 5 fixed in the skirting board mounting process with two fastening devices 20, 20 and one dowel 17. As shown in FIG. 9, the lower end of the side panel 4 is fixed to the right end of the base board 3 with three fastening devices 20, 20, ... and two dowels 17, 17. In parallel with these fixations, as shown in FIG. 10, the rear end of the side panel 4 is fixed to the second wall section W2 with L-shaped metal fittings 38, 38, ....

After these steps are completed, as shown in Figure 6, the storage furniture A without the shelf 6 attached is assembled and fixed to the first and second wall portions W1 and W2 of the existing wall W.

Finally, inside the storage furniture A, as shown in FIG. 11(a), the left side crosspiece 7 is fixed to the first wall W1, the right side crosspiece 9 to the side panel 4, and the rear crosspiece 8 to the second wall W2, all at the same height. As shown in FIG. 11(b), the shelf 6 is placed on the three crosspieces 7-9, and then the shelf 6 is fixed to the crosspieces 7-9, as shown in FIG. 11(c).

In this way, the storage furniture A shown in Figure 1 is completed. In this way, the vertical frame 1 is fixed to the first wall portion W1 of the existing wall W, the left end of the fascia board 5 extending horizontally parallel to the second wall portion W2 is fixed to the top of the vertical frame 1, and then the front end of the side panel 4 is fixed to the right end of the fascia board 5 and the rear end of the side panel 4 is fixed to the second wall portion W2. This assembly method allows the storage furniture A to be assembled and constructed smoothly and in an orderly manner.

In addition, the left end of the base board 3 placed on the floor surface F is abutted against the lower end of the vertical frame 1 and the positioning member 2 and fixed to the lower end of the vertical frame 1, the rear end of the base board 3 is abutted against the second wall portion W2, and the right end of the base board 3 is abutted against the lower end of the side panel 4 and fixed to the lower end of the side panel 4, so that the storage furniture A with the base board 3 placed on the floor surface F as the base can be easily assembled and installed.

Therefore, in this embodiment, the storage furniture A, which is installed on the first and second wall portions W1 and W2 that form an inside corner in the existing wall W, has a vertical frame 1 on its left side that extends vertically along the first wall portion W1, and this vertical frame 1 is fixed to the first wall portion W1 at its side. Also, on the right side of the storage furniture A, a side panel 4 parallel to the first wall portion W1 stands upright opposite to each other, and the rear end of the side panel 4 is fixed to the second wall portion W2. A fascia board 5 that extends horizontally parallel to the second wall portion W2, i.e., perpendicular to the first wall portion W1, is fixed at its left end to the upper end of the vertical frame 1, and the front upper end of the side panel 4 is fixed to the right end of this fascia board 5. In other words, the upper end of the side panel 4 is fixed to the vertical frame 1 and the first wall portion W1 via the fascia board 5, and the rear end is fixed to the second wall portion W2.

As a result, the left side panel of storage furniture A is formed by the first wall portion W1 of the existing wall W that the right side panel 4 faces. The back panel (rear panel) is formed by the second wall portion W2 of the existing wall W. Furthermore, the height of the vertical frame 1 and side panels 4 is the same as the height of the ceiling surface C of the room, and the ceiling surface C forms the top panel of storage furniture A, with storage furniture A being structured so that it is closed by the ceiling surface C (top panel).

Thus, the left side panel of storage furniture A is made up of the first wall W1, the back panel is made up of the second wall W2, and the top panel is made up of the ceiling surface C, and the structure makes use of these existing walls W and ceiling surface C. Therefore, the vertical frame 1, the apron 5, and the side panel 4 are the minimum parts required, and the number of parts is reduced, which reduces the amount of work required when constructing storage furniture A, allowing for less construction work and reducing the costs of storage furniture A.

In particular, the heights of the vertical frame 1 and the side panels 4 are the same, the left-right lengths of the base panel 3 and the fascia panel 5 are also the same, the front-to-back widths of the base panel 3 and the side panels 4 are also the same, and the sum of the front-to-back width of the vertical frame 1 and the length of the positioning member 2 matches the front-to-back width of the base panel 3 and the side panels 4, making it easy to set and manage the dimensions of these panels.

As described above, the positioning member 2 is placed at the corner between the lower end of the first wall portion W1 of the existing wall W and the floor surface F of the room, and the rear surface of the vertical frame 1 abuts against the front end of the positioning member 2 and stands along the first wall portion W1, and in this state, the vertical frame 1 is fixed to the first wall portion W1. By abutting the rear surface of the vertical frame 1 against the front end of the positioning member 2 in this way, the distance from the second wall portion W2 of the vertical frame 1 becomes constant, and the fixed position in the front-to-rear direction on the first wall portion W1 becomes clear, making the fixing easier.

A base plate 3 is placed on the floor surface F between the first wall portion W1 and the second wall portion W2 with its rear end abutting against the second wall portion W2, and the left end of the base plate 3 abuts against the positioning member 2 and the lower end of the vertical frame 1 in front of it, and is fixed to the lower end of the vertical frame 1. The front-to-rear depth of the base plate 3 is the same as the sum of the front-to-rear length of the positioning member 2 and the front-to-rear width of the vertical frame 1, so that the front end of the base plate 3 (position from the second wall portion W2) coincides with the front end of the vertical frame 1. And because the thickness of the base plate 3 is the same as the top-to-bottom thickness of the positioning member 2, the gap between the first wall portion W1 and the base plate 3 at the rear of the vertical frame 1 is filled by the positioning member 2, and the base plate 3 and the positioning member 2 are continuous and flush with each other.

Furthermore, the right end of the base plate 3 abuts against the lower end of the side plate 4 and is fixed to the lower end of the side plate 4. As a result, the storage furniture A has an internal space with the base plate 3 and the positioning member 2 as its bottom.

This results in storage furniture A in which the side panel 4 is connected at its lower end to the lower end of the vertical frame 1 fixed to the first wall portion W1 via the base board 3. In addition, because the lower end of the side panel 4 is fixed to the right end of the base board 3, there is no need to fix the lower end of the side panel 4 to the floor surface F in order to fix it in place; simply by fixing the side panel 4 to the base board 3, the position of the side panel 4 can be determined and its positioning can be easily performed.

The first wall W1, the second wall W2, and the third wall W3 of the existing wall W are connected in a generally Z-shape in plan view, and when the storage furniture A is installed in the recessed corner between the first wall W1 and the second wall W2, the third wall W3, which is connected to the second wall W2 and forms an outward corner, is arranged flush with the side panel 4 of the storage furniture A. As a result, the side panel 4 of the storage furniture A is arranged in a shape that is just an extension of the third wall W3, and no step is created between them, and the protrusion of the existing wall W formed by the first wall W1, the second wall W2, and the third wall W3 is hidden by the storage furniture A without any sense of incongruity, making the appearance look neat and improving safety. In particular, there is an advantage in that the texture and color tone of each component of the storage furniture A can be matched to other fixtures to enhance the sense of unity in the room. Furthermore, if the texture and color tone of each component of the storage furniture A are matched to the first to third wall sections W1 to W3 of the existing wall W, the two will be connected as one unit, giving the appearance that the storage furniture A is incorporated into part of the existing wall W, further enhancing its appearance.

In addition, crosspieces are fixed to the first wall portion W1, the second wall portion W2, and the side panel 4 so that they are at the same height, and the shelf 6 is supported by these three crosspieces. This structure makes it easy to attach at least one shelf 6 to the storage furniture A by utilizing the existing wall W.

Other Embodiments
In the above embodiment, the existing wall W has a left end of the second wall portion W2 continuing from the rear end of the first wall portion W1 and a front end of the third wall portion W3 continuing from the right end of the second wall portion W2, but the existing wall W may have a Z-shape in plan view, with a right end of the second wall portion W2 continuing from the rear end of the first wall portion W1 and a front end of the third wall portion W3 continuing from the left end of the second wall portion W2, and the rest of the existing wall W will be the same as the above embodiment, except that the left and right sides of the storage furniture A will be reversed.

In addition, in the above embodiment, the existing wall W is a Z-shaped wall in plan view, but it may be an L-shaped wall in plan view with only the first and second wall portions W1 and W2 forming an inside corner, and the storage furniture A can be assembled and installed in that inside corner. In this case as well, the first wall portion W1 is continuous with the left end or right end of the second wall portion W2.

In the above embodiment, the vertical frame 1 and side panels 4 are at the same height as the ceiling surface C in the room, and the ceiling surface C constitutes the top plate of the storage furniture A, but a separate top plate (not shown) different from the ceiling surface C may be attached to the upper end of the storage furniture A, and the upper end of the storage furniture A may be closed by the top plate. In that case, it is preferable to use a top plate that is fixed integrally to the rear surface of the upper end of the fascia board 5.

The vertical frame 1 and side panels 4 may be located at a lower height than the ceiling surface C. In that case, the storage furniture A may have no top plate and be open upward, or, as described above, a top plate may be fixed integrally to the rear surface of the upper end of the skirting board 5, and the upper end of the storage furniture A may be closed by the top plate.

In addition, in the above embodiment, when assembling the storage furniture A, the vertical frame 1 is fixed to the first wall portion W1, and then the top panel 5 and the base panel 3 are fixed to the vertical frame 1, and finally the side panel 4 is connected to the top panel 5 and the base panel 3, but the order after fixing the vertical frame 1 may be changed as appropriate.

Furthermore, in the above embodiment, the positioning member 2 and the base plate 3 are provided, but these are not essential components. The positioning member 2 can be omitted and the fixed position of the vertical frame 1 on the first wall portion W1 can be determined. Also, the base plate 3 can be omitted and the floor surface F can be used as the bottom of the storage furniture A. In that case, the lower end of the side panel 4 needs to be fixed to the floor surface F. If the positioning member 2 and the base plate 3 are omitted, the number of parts can be further reduced, and the cost of the storage furniture A can be reduced.

In addition, in the above embodiment, the fastening device 20 is used to connect and fasten two perpendicular plate materials, but the two plate materials can also be connected and fastened using other fastening hardware such as screws.

The present invention is extremely useful and has a high industrial applicability because it reduces the number of parts in storage furniture, reduces the labor required for installation, and reduces the installation and costs of storage furniture.
