Description
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus such as a copier, a printer, a facsimile, or a multifunction device thereof, and a waste toner container installed therein.
。 Conventionally, in an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine or a printer, a technique of detachably installing a waste toner container for accommodating waste toner has been widely known (see, for example, Patent Documents 1 and 2).
Specifically, in Patent Document 1, the waste toner container (waste toner collection container) is configured so that the transport tube installed in the image forming apparatus main body is inserted and removed in conjunction with the attachment / detachment operation to the image forming apparatus main body. Has been done. Then, in the image forming apparatus, the toner (untransferred toner) remaining on the surface of the image carrier such as the photoconductor drum and the intermediate transfer belt is cleaned after the transfer process is performed with the waste toner container attached. The toner removed by the device and collected by the cleaning device is conveyed as waste toner by the transport pipe, and the waste toner discharged from the discharge port of the transport pipe passes through the receiving port (inflow port) to the waste toner container. It falls inside its own weight and is collected.
On the other hand, Patent Document 2 describes two storage units vertically partitioned in the waste toner container for the purpose of efficiently storing a large amount of waste toner inside the waste toner container (waste developer container). Is provided, the waste toner contained in one accommodating portion is conveyed toward the other accommodating portion by a transport screw, and the waste toner conveyed to the other accommodating portion is further directed toward the back side by a transport screw. The technique of transport is disclosed.
The conventional waste toner container is attached to the image forming apparatus main body, and even if there is an available layout space above the image forming apparatus main body, the transport pipe installed in the image forming apparatus main body and the waste toner container are used. The capacity (size) may be limited to a small size depending on the positional relationship of other members arranged below the toner container. In such a case, the waste toner container becomes filled with the waste toner relatively quickly, and the waste toner container must be frequently replaced.
In order to solve such a problem, it is conceivable to apply the technique of Patent Document 2 to provide the waste toner container with two vertically partitioned storage portions. However, in that case, by installing the transfer screw in each of the two accommodating portions, the cost and weight of the waste toner accommodator may be increased, or the overall configuration may be complicated by providing a drive mechanism for the transfer screw. It will be.
The present invention has been made to solve the above-mentioned problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a waste toner container and an image forming apparatus capable of increasing the capacity of waste toner to be stored.
The waste toner container in the present invention is a waste toner container that is detachably installed with respect to the image forming apparatus main body and stores the toner collected by the cleaning device installed in the image forming apparatus main body as waste toner. there are, comprises two housing portions of the first housing portion and a second housing portion which is partitioned into upper and lower, the first located beneath one of the two housing portions in a state of being mounted to the image forming apparatus main body Waste toner is conveyed to one storage unit, and by reversing the vertical direction of the waste toner container, a part or all of the waste toner stored in the first storage unit is transferred to the second storage unit. It is configured to be movable.
According to the present invention, it is possible to provide a waste toner container and an image forming apparatus capable of increasing the capacity of the waste toner to be stored.

Further, below the process cartridge 10 (cleaning device 2), a

Then, toner is supplied from the developing device 5 onto the photoconductor drum 1, and the latent image on the photoconductor drum 1 is developed to form a toner image (a developing step).
After that, the surface of the photoconductor drum 1 after the developing step reaches the transfer nip portion (transfer position) with the transfer roller 9. Then, a transfer bias (a bias having a polarity different from that of the toner) is applied from the power supply unit to the transfer roller 9 at the transfer nip portion with the transfer roller 9, so that the sheet conveyed by the

Further, with the opening /
Hereinafter, the configuration and operation of the waste toner container 40 (image forming apparatus 100), which is characteristic of the present embodiment, will be described.
As described above with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, in the present embodiment, the
Here, as shown in FIGS. 3 to 5 and the like, the
In the specification of the present application and the like, the "up and down" and "vertical direction" of the
Then, as shown in FIG. 7, the
Specifically, as shown in FIGS. 7A to 7C, the second
That is, in the
With this configuration, when the
Specifically, when using a waste toner container with a simple structure without installing a transport screw inside the container, the waste toner discharged from the discharge port of the transport pipe and dropped by its own weight is deposited and stored in the container as it is. Will be done. Then, if it is left as it is, even if it is attempted to deposit and store the waste toner in the space above the transport pipe, the discharge port of the transport pipe will be blocked by the waste toner. That is, in the waste toner container as it is, the waste toner is deposited and stored in the space below the transport pipe, and the waste toner cannot be deposited and stored in the space above the transport pipe.
Therefore, as shown in FIG. 9, the conventional
On the other hand, the
As a result, the storage capacity of the waste toner T in the

Further, a stopper portion 48 (standing portion) is formed in the

That is, as shown in FIGS. 5 (B) and 8 (B), when the

<変形例>
