ここにおいて、図4に示すように、巻きバネ11がワイヤ縮径付勢機構bのワイヤ挿通パイプ7,7´に収納される際には極限まで圧縮されて伸長付勢力を貯め込んでいる。かかる圧縮された巻きバネ11は、捕獲ワイヤaのループ部a”をともなった固定形態のもとに圧縮状態が維持されている。すなわち捕獲ワイヤaはストッパー機能部材12の位置で自由端の一部を固定され、他端を左右ワイヤ保持体3にループ部を介してワイヤガイド部材10に不動状態で挿通ガイドされている。従って、圧縮された巻きバネ11は、伸長付勢を解除することができず圧縮状態のままで収納されている。
かかる状態で踏板6が踏まれて左右ワイヤ保持体3が起立してループ部a”をループ状態に維持する規制がなくなると、ワイヤ挿通パイプ7、7´内に圧縮収納された巻きバネ11は伸長付勢の方向に伸張して、その弾性力によりワイヤガイド部材10からワイヤ挿通パイプ7、7´が離反してループ部a”は縮径する。その分、捕獲ワイヤaは緊張状態から弛緩状態となる。
このとき、図5に示すように、縮径により弛緩した捕獲ワイヤaが弛緩した長さ分だけ挿通パイプ7、7´の先端より現れる。これにより挿通パイプ7、7´後端のストッパー機能部材12が巻きバネ11により強制的に後退変位をすることになり、捕獲ワイヤaを引張ってループ部の縮径を促す。同時に、圧縮した巻きバネ11も挿通パイプ7、7´前端から突出することになり巻きバネ11の伸長付勢作動が捕獲ワイヤaのループ部縮径作動に連なり、害獣の脚部の緊縛機能を果たすことになる。
なお、図6に示すように、ストッパー機能部材12においてはボール挿通孔11−3に配設したボール11−4が外筒11−1のテーパ状内周面に当接して内筒11−2の中心方向に変位させられることで自由端ワイヤa´を押圧し、自由端ワイヤa´とストッパー機能部材12とが一体となる。
