The present invention relates to a pest repellent that suppresses irritation to mucous membranes.
Blood-sucking pests such as mosquitoes, gnats and mites carry a variety of infectious diseases (eg, malaria, yellow fever, Lyme disease, dengue fever, etc.). Conventionally, pest repellents have been developed in order to prevent damage caused by these blood-sucking pests. Examples of the pest repellent component contained in such a pest repellent include ethyl 3- [acetyl (butyl) amino] propionate and N, N-diethyl-m-toluamide (DEET). These pest repellent components are used, for example, as an aerosol-form pest repellent as described in Patent Document 1.
Such pest repellents are usually used by being applied directly to limbs, arms and the like, or by being applied over clothing. The pest repellent contains a pest repellent component at a certain concentration in order to exert a sufficient repellent effect. Some of these pest repellent components also irritate the human body. Therefore, when sprayed and applied, the pest repellent component sprayed in the form of mist may adhere to the mucous membranes of the eyes, nose and throat and cause irritation.

Next, the samples 1 to 6 obtained in Examples 1 to 4 and Comparative Examples 1 and 2 were evaluated for jetting property and irritation.
<基準>
(Injectability)
Specimens 1 to 6 were each sealed in a hand spray (single injection amount: about 0.3 mL). The sample enclosed in the hand spray was sprayed several times each and evaluated according to the following criteria. The results are shown in Table 1.
<Criteria>
A + : When the sample is sprayed in the form of a fine mist and sprayed without discomfort.
A: When the sample is sprayed in the form of a fine mist and there is no practical problem during injection, although there is a slight sense of discomfort such as a slight resistance.
B: When the sample is not sprayed in the form of mist, or when there is a feeling of discomfort that cannot be put into practical use, such as a clear resistance when spraying.
<基準>
(Irritation)
Specimens 1 to 6 were each sealed in a hand spray (single injection amount: about 0.3 mL). We asked 5 male and 5 female panelists (10 in total) to spray the sample enclosed in the hand spray once from a position 15 cm away from the shoulder. After the injection, the irritation felt on the mucous membranes of the eyes, nose and throat was evaluated according to the following criteria. The total score of 10 panelists was calculated, and the relative value of each example was calculated when the total score of Comparative Example 1 was used as a reference (100). It can be evaluated that the lower the relative value, the more relaxed the stimulus. The results are shown in Table 1.
<Criteria>
1 point: When the mucous membrane is hardly irritated or is not irritated.
2 points: When the mucous membrane is irritated to the extent that it is not practically noticeable.
3 points: When the mucous membrane is irritated.
4 points: When a strong irritation is felt on the mucous membrane.
5 points: When the mucous membrane feels extremely strong irritation beyond the permissible range.
As shown in Table 1, it can be seen that the samples 1 to 4 obtained in Examples 1 to 4 are hypoallergenic, and there is no practical problem in terms of jetting property. In particular, in Example 4, it can be seen that the irritation is reduced by 50% or more as compared with Comparative Example 1 which does not contain the cationic polymer, and in Example 1 as well, it is reduced by about 10%. On the other hand, Specimen 6 (Comparative Example 2) in which PEG-1500 was used instead of Softcare KG-301W gave a stronger irritation to the mucous membrane than the standard Comparative Example 1 although there was no problem in jettability. You can see that. As a result, the N, N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate diethyl sulfate / N, N-dimethylacrylamide / dimethacrylate polyethylene glycol copolymer, which is a cationic polymer, sprays the pest repellent without any problem, and the pest repellent is released. It was found that spraying and using it causes almost no irritation to the mucous membrane.
