Description
本出願は、2014年9月25日に出願された米国特許仮出願第62/055384号、表題「COATED BALLOONS AND COATED BALLOON ASSEMBLIES AND RELATED METHODS OF USE AND MANUFACTURE」の優先権を主張するものであり、その全体が参照により本明細書に組み込まれる。
本出願は一般に、医療処置に使用される医療用装置及び組立品、加えて関連する方法に関する。いくつかの実施形態では、本医療用装置は、細長い通路を通過した後、拡張構成を採るように構成されたバルーン又は他の装置を含み得る。本医療用装置は、装置が細長い通路内から取り出されるとき、医療用装置の圧縮を容易にする潤滑な内部コーティングを含み得る。
ポリビニルピロリドン及び架橋性触媒を含有する水/イソプロピルアルコール溶液を、種々のサイズのバルーン本体に充填した。各バルーンに充填した後、溶液を6.25〜12.5mL/分の制御速度で排出した。排出後、溶液の層がバルーンの内部表面上に残存し、湿潤した内部表面を形成した。バルーン本体を通して空気を圧入することにより、バルーン本体を乾燥させ、(バルーン外部のランプを用いて)紫外線を照射した。その結果、バルーンは、バルーン本体の材料から形成される外部層及びポリビニルピロリドンを含んだ親水性内部層を有した。親水性コーティングは、施術者がバルーンの反対側にある物体を観察するために透明なバルーンを見通せる能力を実質的に減少させなかったことが観察された。
バルーンの内部表面上の潤滑剤が、バルーンが膨張して収縮した後、通路へとバルーンを抜去するために必要な力に影響を有し得るかどうか及びその程度を調査するために、8個の多段式バルーン(18−19−20mm×8cm)を3セット入手した。第1のセットのバルーンの内部表面を、実施例1に記載した親水性(すなわち、PVP)コーティングでコーティングした。第2のセットのバルーンは、潤滑剤層でコーティングしなかった。第3のセットのバルーンの内部表面は、膨張前にシリコーン油潤滑剤を噴霧し、シリコーン油の潤滑剤層を形成した。
各種コーティングが、バルーン本体の隣接する内部表面間の摩擦を減少させる程度を調査するため、各種バルーン材料での「試験時ピーク摩擦力」を下記のように測定した。

前記バルーン本体は、細長い医療用装置の通路を通って送達するように構成され、また、前記第2の材料が、前記第2の材料を欠く同一のバルーンと比較して、前記バルーン本体を膨張させ、そして収縮させた後、前記細長い医療用装置の前記通路へと前記バルーン本体を抜去するのに要する力の量を減少させるように構成されている、バルーン。 - 前記バルーンが食道ステントを拡張するように構成されている、請求項1に記載のバルーン。
- 前記ポリビニルピロリドンは、前記バルーン本体の内部表面に架橋される、請求項1又は2に記載のバルーン。
- 医療用装置組立品であって、
バルーン本体及び前記バルーン本体の内部表面に配設された乾燥した固体の潤滑剤層を備え、前記バルーン本体は、ポリエーテルブロックアミド共重合体又はNylonの少なくとも1以上を含み、前記潤滑剤層は、親水性を有し前記バルーン本体の内部表面に架橋され永続的に結合されるポリビニルピロリドンを含み、前記潤滑剤層は、膨張流体によって前記バルーン本体が膨張した後、前記バルーン本体の内部表面に残存するバルーンと、を含み、
前記バルーン本体が、10mm以上の膨張直径を有し、細長い医療用装置の3.8mm以下の直径を有する細長い通路を通って送達及び抜去されるように構成されており、前記潤滑剤層が、前記潤滑剤層を欠く同一のバルーンと比較して、前記バルーン本体を膨張させ、そして収縮させた後に、前記細長い医療用装置の前記細長い通路へと前記バルーン本体を抜去するのに要する力の量を減少させる、医療用装置組立品。 - 患者の空洞内に展開するための請求項1に記載のバルーンの製造方法であって、前記方法が、
ポリエーテルブロックアミド共重合体を含むバルーン本体を得ることと、
前記バルーン本体の内部表面上に親水性を有しポリビニルピロリドンを含むコーティングを塗布することと、
紫外線の照射によって前記コーティングを硬化させることと、を含み、
前記硬化されたコーティングが、前記バルーン本体の前記内部表面に永続的な潤滑剤をもたらす、方法。 - 前記バルーン本体は、ポリエーテルブロックアミド共重合体を含む、請求項4に記載の組立品。
- 前記バルーン本体は、Nylonを含む、請求項4に記載の組立品。
- 更に、3.8mm以下の直径を有する細長い通路を含む細長い医療用装置を備える、請求項4に記載の組立品。
- 前記バルーンが、膨張時に12mm超の直径を有し、前記細長い通路の直径に対する、膨張時の前記バルーンの直径の比が4より大きい、請求項8に記載の組立品。
- 前記細長い通路の直径に対する、膨張時の前記バルーンの直径の比が4より大きい、請求項8に記載の組立品。
- 前記バルーン本体は、膨張したとき、外部表面との接線が、65°より大きい鋭角で前記バルーン本体の長手方向軸と交差するような外部表面を備える、請求項4に記載の組立品。
- 前記鋭角は、80°より大きい、請求項11に記載の組立品。
