リヤサイドメンバ5の屈曲とともにリヤフロアパネル2も屈曲し、駆動用蓄電池の本体部8も燃料タンク7に近づく、図示矢視Z方向に傾斜しながら前方側に移動する。図5に示すようにリヤフロアパネル2はリヤクロスメンバ6の接合部の後方側で屈曲し、燃料タンク7に近づいていくことがわかる。この変形により衝撃を吸収しつつ、リヤサイドメンバ5を補強するリヤクロスメンバ6とリンフォースメント10の効果により燃料タンク7と駆動用蓄電池の本体部8が存在する範囲のリヤサイドメンバ5の変形を抑制する。こうして、燃料タンク7はリヤフロアパネル2における前部フロアパネル3の下面側空間部3bで保護されているので、駆動用蓄電池の本体部8が前部縦壁面4cを介して燃料タンク7に接触する不具合を防止することができる。補強部材9は、駆動用蓄電池の本体部8の車体前後方向の長さLと略同一の長さに形成されているので、リンフォースメント10の後端が駆動用蓄電池の本体部8の範囲までとなり、それより後方のリヤサイドメンバ5は変形可能となることから空間を確保しつつ、駆動用蓄電池の本体部8を守りながら、効率的にエネルギーの吸収を図ることができる。また、リヤサイドメンバ5が山形に屈曲した際に、リヤフロアパネル2が撓んで燃料タンク7のインレットパイプ7aが存在する付近まで達する恐れがあるが、リヤクロスメンバ6がインレットパイプ7aの上方のリヤフロアパネル2に配置されており剛性を確保することができる。さらに、リヤサイドメンバ5の脆弱部Fをリヤクロスメンバ6よりも後方に配置させることにより、リヤフロアパネル2の変形がインレットパイプ7a付近まで及ばないように抑制することができる。
