引張伸び率−ASTM D828
0.5インチチョップドULTEM繊維、Vectran(登録商標)繊維および少量のLEXAN FST繊維との混合物を小型(12’’×12’’(305mm×305mm))のハンドフォーマ(hand former)を用いてハニカム紙用のマットを実験室調製してマットに十分な強度をもたせ、さらなる処理を可能とした。LEXAN FSTが溶融する条件で湿潤マットを乾燥させて、非常に軽量(40gsm)の織布とした。その後、490°F(254℃)×3分間×28psiで、次に1,100psi×8分間の条件で、剥離処理した金属プレート間で乾燥マットを圧密化した。得られたフィルムは、比較的良好な透明度とかなり良好に分散した補強繊維とを有する0.002’’(5mm)厚のフィルムであり、著しく変形せずに処理ができるように見えたが、気泡が多く存在した。別のサンプルを同様の条件下で処理したが、減圧下で行ったので、気泡はほとんどなかった。結果:上記の実施例で処理したサンプルを上記の手順に従って試験した。結果を以下の表2に示す。
比較実施例AのNormex系紙と比較実施例BのKevlar系の紙と比較して、実施例1のハニカム紙の引張強度は高い。比較実施例Aの紙の縦方向の引張強度は13.1±0.6kg/インチ、比較実施例Bのそれは7.6±0.9kg/インチであったのに対し、実施例1のハニカム紙の縦方向引張強度は16.1±1.2kg/インチであり、比較実施例のものより高い。
Claims (7)
- 繊維質層であってその中の繊維の合計質量に対して、
20〜45質量%の補強繊維、および前記補強繊維より少なくとも20℃低い溶融温度を有する50〜70質量%の連続相ポリマー繊維を含む第1の繊維と、
前記連続相繊維の溶融温度より低い溶融温度を有するバインダー繊維を5〜10質量%と、の組み合わせを含み、
前記第1の繊維は、補強ポリエーテルイミドコアと連続相液晶シースを含む多成分繊維であるか、補強液晶ポリマーコアと連続相ポリエーテルイミドシースを含む多成分繊維であることを特徴とする繊維質層。 - 前記第1の繊維は、補強液晶ポリマーコアと連続相ポリエーテルイミドシースを含む多成分繊維であり;
前記バインダー繊維は、ポリカーボネートコポリマー繊維、ポリアルキレンテレフタレート繊維、ポリエーテルエーテルケトン繊維、ポリアミド繊維あるいはこれらの繊維の少なくとも1つを含む組み合わせを含む請求項1に記載の繊維質層。 - 前記第1の繊維は、補強ポリエーテルイミドコアと連続相液晶シースを含む多成分繊維であり、
前記バインダー繊維は、ポリカーボネートコポリマー繊維、ポリアルキレンテレフタレート繊維、ポリエーテルエーテルケトン繊維、ポリアミド繊維あるいはこれらの繊維の少なくとも1つを含む組み合わせを含む請求項1に記載の繊維質層。 - 請求項1乃至3のいずれか1項に記載の繊維質層を含むことを特徴とする圧密化繊維質マット。
- 請求項4に記載の圧密化繊維質マットを含むハニカムコアを含むことを特徴とするハニカム紙。
- 前記ハニカムコアの表面に接合された保護層をさらに含み、
前記保護層は、ポリカーボネートコポリマーフィルム、ポリイミドを伴ったガラス繊維マット、液晶ポリマーマット、炭素繊維織物、難燃性織物あるいはシートメタルである請求項5に記載のハニカム紙。 - 懸濁溶媒に繊維組成物をキャスティングして層を形成するステップと、
前記層から水を取り除くステップと、
前記層を圧密化して前記圧密化繊維質マットを形成するステップと、
を備えることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の圧密化繊維質マットの形成方法。
