活性炭素を40/60メッシュ(米国標準検査篩ASTM E-11規格)に粉砕し、粉砕した炭素を、100部の粉砕した炭素に対して60部の酸の割合において酸溶液(15%)を用いて前処理した以外は、一般に上述したように炭素+CBT(C+CBT)媒体を製造した。前処理した炭素に、2時間、動的流動充填を用いて、50%層膨張を伴いながら、炭素重量に対して8%のCBTを充填し、次に洗浄して5.97%のCBTとした。
活性炭素を40/60メッシュに粉砕し、粉砕した炭素を、100部の粉砕した炭素に対して60部の酸の割合において酸溶液(15%)を用いて前処理した以外は、一般に上述したように炭素+CBT(C+CBT)媒体を製造した。前処理した炭素に、4時間、動的流動充填を用いて、33%層膨張を伴いながら、炭素重量に対して9.15%のCBTを充填し、次に、洗浄して7.9%のCBTとした。
大学研究室廃棄物処理:酸/金属廃棄物を含む3つの55ガロンのたるを、ICP/MS分析のためにサンプリングした。ゼロ近傍のpHから開始して、固体水酸化ナトリウムを用いて、3つ全てをpH 3.5に中和した。次に、この溶液を沈殿させてよく、上澄みを一緒に混合し、この溶液を、以下に記載したように製造した直列の、C+CBT媒体を含む4つの媒体カラム中に約50ml/分で送り出した。たるにおける元の金属含有量と混合した流出物の金属含有量との比較を図9に示す。このシステムは、ボールダー自治市排出限界より低い濃度まで全ての金属を減らした。
それぞれ希土類元素(REE)金属約5ppmでのREEならびにごくわずかな量のトリウムおよびウランを含むpH 3.5の500mlの溶液を、2グラムのC+CBT媒体をそれぞれ保持する直列の3つのカラム中に送り出した。
次亜リン酸ナトリウム、オキシカルボン酸&はんだフラックスからの有機物および3800ppmのニッケル等の化学物質および有機物を含む産業廃棄溶液を、116ppmのニッケルのレベルまで希釈した。800mlのこの溶液を、20グラムのGAC前処理に送り出し、次に、4グラムのC+CBT媒体中に送り出し、顕著なニッケル減少がもたらされた。この実験結果を図11に示す。廃棄物生産者によって前にテストされた他のシステムは、ニッケルをこの程度まで下げることに成功していなかった。
Claims (18)
- 収着媒体の製造方法であって、該方法は:
チャンバーまたはカラムに収着媒体塊を100体積%未満で充填し;
動的流動充填法により、第1金属結合配位子を含む溶液をチャンバーまたはカラム内に送り出して、チャンバーまたはカラム内で収着媒体塊を流動させ;
前記動的流動充填法により収着媒体に第1金属結合配位子を充填し;それによって、
チャンバーまたはカラムにおいて収着媒体塊を処理して、収着媒体を製造することを含むことを特徴とする、方法。 - 収着媒体が粒子状炭素を含んでなることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 第1金属結合配位子がベンゾトリアゾールまたはベンゾチアゾールを含むことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 第1金属結合配位子がカルボキシベンゾトリアゾールであることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記方法が、ジカルボン酸、エチレンジアミンテトラアセテート、およびアスコルビン酸を含む群から選択される第2金属結合配位子を収着媒体上に充填することをさらに含むことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記方法が、収着媒体塊を、第1金属結合配位子を含む溶液を用いて処理する前に、酸化剤を用いて前処理することをさらに含むことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
- a)動的流動充填を含む方法によってチャンバーまたはカラム内のいずれかにおいて収着媒体上に第1金属結合配位子または第1金属結合配位子および第2金属結合配位子を充填し、ここで、該方法は、第1金属結合配位子または第1金属結合配位子および第2金属結合配位子を含む溶液をチャンバーまたはカラム内に送り出すことによりチャンバーまたはカラム内で収着媒体を流動させること;および
b)収着媒体、第1金属結合配位子、または第1金属結合配位子および第2金属結合配位子を含むチャンバーまたはカラム中に、1以上の金属を含む水性媒体を通し、その結果、第1金属結合配位子および第2金属結合配位子は水性媒体からの1以上の金属に結合することを含むことを特徴とする、水性媒体からの金属の封鎖方法。 - 収着媒体が粒子状炭素を含むことを特徴とする、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 粒子状炭素が、前記充填工程の前に、硝酸を用いて前処理されることを特徴とする、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 第1金属結合配位子が、少なくとも1つのベンゾトリアゾール、ベンゾチアゾール、または別の金属結合化合物を含むことを特徴とする、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 第1金属結合配位子がカルボキシベンゾトリアゾールであることを特徴とする、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 第2金属結合配位子が、ジカルボン酸、エチレンジアミンテトラアセテート、およびアスコルビン酸からなる群から選択されることを特徴とする、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記金属が、アルミニウム、ヒ素、ベリリウム、ホウ素、カドミウム、クロム、ガドリニウム、フッ素、水銀、ニッケル、サマリウム、セレン、トリウム、バナジウム、アンチモン、コバルト、ホルミウム、リチウム、モリブデン、スカンジウム、ツリウム、イッテルビウム、バリウム、銅、鉄、ネオジム、銀、錫、イットリウム、カドミウム、ジスプロシウム、ランタン、ニッケル、ストロンチウム、チタン、亜鉛、セシウム、エルビウム、鉛、水銀、パラジウム、タングステン、タリウム、セリウム ユウロピウム、ルテチウム、プラデオジミウム、テルビウム、ウラン、マンガン、およびその化合物またはその混合物を含む群から選択されることを特徴とする、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記水性媒体が約1〜5のpHを有することを特徴とする、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記水性媒体が約0〜9のpHを有することを特徴とする、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 金属を含む流体の処理に用いるための材料の製造方法であって、該方法は:
チャンバーまたはカラムに粒子状活性炭素を100体積%未満で充填すること;および
動的流動充填法により、配位子播種溶液をチャンバーまたはカラム中に流し、ここで、粒子状活性炭素の流圧は、チャンバーまたはカラム内において粒子状活性炭素に作用する重力を克服するのに少なくとも十分高く、それによって、配位子播種溶液がチャンバーまたはカラム内に送り出す時に粒子状活性炭素をチャンバーまたはカラム内で流動させること
を含むことを特徴とする、方法。 - チャンバーまたはカラムに粒子状活性炭素を100体積%未満で充填する前に酸化剤を用いて粒子状活性炭素を前処理することをさらに含むことを特徴とする、請求項16に記載の方法。
- 酸化剤は硝酸であることを特徴とする、請求項17に記載の方法。
